The Next Life

Mr. Sunshine takes time to smell the flower, not quite ready for his next life.

I have really beautiful memories of a really remarkable cat, especially from the past few months, even the past few weeks. Thank you for getting me outside to smell the flowers, Mr. Sunshine! I’ve loved every moment of our latest adventure together, even to this morning when we visited the sun on the deck.

Mr. Sunshine had the strength to manage his own multiple conditions to see each of his siblings safely off to their next life, and now he’s gone to join them.

He was extremely anemic, likely from an internal bleed in the splenic mass or his spleen itself. I knew at the beginning of the week that something was different this time. I’ve known since the new year that we didn’t have very long. I did get to bring him home before he let go.

I can’t think beyond this moment, so I will see you again some time soon.

Thank you for following our grief journey after losing three members of our feline family.

I hope sharing our experiences have helped you in some way, as sharing my experiences with you helps me.

I can’t imagine losing so many so close together. I’m happy to have seen Mr. Sunshine on our Zoom Chat. All my heart is with you.

    • Thank you. You know, just before Mimi and the kids joined my life, I lost five in 18 months. Mr. Sunshine and his siblings, and Mimi too, healed my heart from that. It won’t be so easy without them this time, but their love is still with me.
