Kelly does have very bright green eyes, especially when she sits in the sun. I would never question her natural color until today when I walked in on her in my studio…
“Oh, no,” Kelly said, “I’m found out!”
“Well,” she concluded, “I can only say it pays to be an artist’s cat.”
Don’t worry, all materials I use in the house are AP Non-toxic, meaning kids can eat or drink large amounts of them and not be hurt by them. Nothing is without its risks, but I am careful to source my art materials to smaller companies who can generally trace the origins and contents of the materials they use. Read more about it in What Does the Cherry Paint Taste Like? and Living Green With Pets: Art Cats
And just what was I using that particular shade of green for? The leaf speckles in Daily Sketch: In Afternoon Sun.
Mewsette also has a secret to greenest eyes!

Kelly, My Studio Supervisor, 2012
But tell me, could you work with that little face watching you? Those big round green eyes and big rounded ears? I try not to laugh but she’s so cute I can’t help it, and I don’t always get much done. It’s all Kelly’s fault.
And when she gets bored with me she can look out the window and watch the birds in the trees.
