Daily Photo: Mewsette’s Secret to the Greenest Eyes

Mewsette has green green eyes already, but she is prepared to share one of her deepest secrets for the greenest eyes on any kitty.
“Sit next to the asparagus fern when the sun is shining on it,” she whispurrrs, “no one will be able to believe the color!”
We’ve enjoyed nearly a week of sunny days, and hop you have too!
A reader reminded me after I posted this that Cookie and Kelly had also had secrets to the greenest eyes, and here they are too—just in case you need to have the greenest eyes!

Feline Body Art and a Cousin Kitty, 2013

Is Mimi tired of being considered just a “Little Black Cat”? Seems she decided to try something new this morning to add interest to her sleek cocoa fur—a waistband of a Victorian leafy pattern. I find it very becoming. And very inspiring. This could be a new and exciting thing.
Then again, perhaps she’s planning a camouflage for when we go outdoors so that she can slip away, as she sometimes tries to do.
Actually, it’s the shadow of the jade plant in the sun from the side window, close enough to her to cast a nice, clear shadow. But it’s still a cool idea.

Tanning the Lady Bits

Cats really have no shame. Or they really have no need for shame. Or they find no need for shame when they’re as comfortable as can be, no matter what they look like.
This is Baby, who lives with my great-niece and family in Savannah, Georgia, soaking up that southern sunshine in a sunpuddle on the kitchen floor.
My niece posted the photo and said, “Ahhh…..Good morning…..Tanning the lady bits.” Which gave me a good first-thing laugh.
Baby’s human is the cute little girl in this article, my great-niece Cassidy, and I think she may have been about the age in the photo when they went to the Humane Society of Greater Savannah to adopt a kitty just for Cassidy. There was already a kitty named Elsa in the house, and a black and white rescued border collie mix named Bingo, and a host of lizards and snakes and other things her older brother had adopted then and since, but Cassidy wanted her own kitty. When she turned ten years old she asked her friends to bring food and treats for the animals at the shelter instead of giving gifts to her. Nice kids.
All kitties of people I know and are even related to are cousins!

I Don’t Know!, 2013

Am I sweet?
Am I cute?
Am I a peanut?
Am I a pumpkin seed?
Am I purring?
Am I a handsome black kitty?
Can you kiss me?
Can you hug me?
Can you pet me?
Is my fur so so shiny?
Do I have leafy green eyes?
I don’t know. I don’t know!
All this might be true but I JUST DON’T KNOW! I’m just a little black cat and I don’t have deep thoughts like that. I just know I’m going to have a nap in this sunbeam now. I hope you find the answers to your questions, and I really need a nap. This I do know.
Poor Bean, sometimes when I prattle on with my nonsense about how cute he is he sometimes looks a little frightened. Poor guy! I don’t mean to upset him, and his brothers just soak it in and really perform for me, but he’s just so cute sometimes I can’t contain myself.

What a beautiful photo of Mewsette..Kelly and Cookie where such pretty Torties..My Tortie girl here is named Black Eyed Susan..Susie for short..as I found her as a kitten sitting among my Black-Eyed-Susan flowers and crying her little heart out cause she didn’t know where to go..I don’t know where she came from but I’m glad she came to my house..Susie’s eyes are so pretty..she has a ring of green around her pupil and a ring of gold around the green..I never saw eyes like that before..I love Baby’s fluffy tummy..
Bluemoonalone, what a lovely story and a lovely name! And her eyes do sound beautiful, I know just the kind you mean. She knew where to go, but sometimes I think they do drop out of nowhere to just the right spot.
Pretty Mewsette 🙂
Julie has light green eyes and when she sits next to something of colour
her eyes take on that hue. Often it appears that she has golden eyes;)
We love all the kitty pics especially Jelly Bean and the questions !
Mom sometimes odes that to us.
