I had a little trouble with my garden flags. The flags were curling, a lot, in the rain and cool weather. It’s really not that cold, and rain does fall, so the garden flags might be curling up an awful lot, and I didn’t want that. The fabric I had purchased wasn’t quite as heavy as I thought it would be. So I tried two other kinds of fabric, and here you have fabric 1, the original; fabric 2, a slightly heavier fabric but still curls, but not as much as the first one; and fabric 3, a slightly heavier fabric yet that doesn’t curl much at all.
It’s a toss-up between fabric 2 and 3. While fabric 2 curls, you can also see the design fairly clearly from behind. In fabric 3, the design is bright and clear, and it doesn’t curl much at all, but you don’t see it very well from the back. In any case, I have both fabrics and more fabric transfers, so I’ll be making them today and tomorrow. Feel free to order! That helps me along because I’ll know which designs to focus on and make larger quantities of. And…paying for the car and car repairs…
Click bit.ly/HandmadeGardenFlags or on the image below to browse the page. The selection you see below is only a portion of the flags I have to offer—my screen shot could only catch so much.
Design names of the new flags are:
Stanley With Geraniums and White Cat Reflecting
Inscrutable Cats and Late Winter Sunbath
Late Winter Sunbath and A Wonderful Gift
Mimi at the Window and Mimi in the Formal Garden
Peaches and Peonies and Lucy the Most Exceptional Kitten
One of these flags was a commissioned portrait, two of them were commissioned by the Cat Writers’ Association as artwork for greeting cards. Each one has its story.
These aren’t up on my website yet, but they will be soon—I need to replenish supplies and make sure I have a few in stock, but you will be able to pre-order if I can’t get the transfers in promptly.
Next garden flags will be a few more flower, wildlife, and nature designs, but tomorrow I’ll have the new tote bags done!
The manufacturer of the fabric transfers I use to make these and many other products, NuCoat, will give me a discount on purchases if I tag them and mention them on social media when I post a product where I’ve used their transfers. I am more than happy to do this for the quality of their transfers and the things I can make when I use them, and their customer service as well. Visit their website: https://nufunactivities.com/
Join us for an In-person and Virtual Open House!
Sunday, May 2 through Saturday, May 8, 2021
In person or virtual, you’re invited to our Spring Open House, May 2 through 8! I’m busily working on the newest designs and products, like hand-stenciled doormats, suncatchers, masks, totes and accessory bags, and framed artwork.
I always feel bad that some of you who have been following me from the very beginning can’t be here for my open houses and other events. Often I have items I never list on my website because they sell best in person, and I always have discounts for people who visit.
But I’ll include anyone who is interested and you can shop either in person or online, which means if you are nowhere near us you can still choose from all the stuff AND get the 25% discount I always offer at my open house events. If you are interested, please sign up for my Open House newsletter, information below.
For the safety of in-person attendees, it’s a week long so that people can spread out their visits and we can socially distance. I’ll have things set up in my house as well as my front and back porches and at least one of my tents in the back yard. For our friends at a distance, I’ll photograph or video the setups and share them through the week in other newsletters.Sign up for a 25% discount!
If you shop in person, I give you a 25% discount on your entire order. If you shop online, you need a discount code. Either way, you need to sign up for my Open House notifications so that I can email you the information.
Usually I send post cards because the cards are worth the investment, being far more effective than any electronic communications, but this time I just ran out of time to have them printed and send them. However, I’d love to be able to send you one for future open houses whether you are local or distant. Because I don’t want to broadcast my address to total strangers on social media I keep a list of those who have expressed interest and encourage them to share with friends and family. If you’d like to be on that list click this link and sign up! You can let me know if you want a post card, email, or both. I know sometimes it takes that much to get my attention for events.
Please contact me if you have questions. I look forward to sharing what I’ve created!
