Rescue Story: Meet Hazel!

long-haired tabby kitten
Hazel!

Meet Hazel! She appears to be 5 to 6 weeks old, 1.7 lb, very friendly, very social, and relaxed around people. She was found near Mill 19 and Hazelwood Green Park. Here is her story.

I stopped in Pet Well Clinic Scott last week for Morty’s food and met the couple with this kitten. The woman had seen the kitten near where she had parked her car. It was wandering around and meowing loudly.

She took some time to look for other cats, other kittens, a mother cat and found nothing along the area where she was parked, in the park itself, and across the street which was the Uber parking lot. She was concerned because of the traffic on the road and rush hour traffic, so she decided to take the kitten with her. She and her husband went straight to the veterinarian to have her examined. That’s where I met her.

I handled Hazel and petted her and kissed her on the nose, and she was loving it. This is a very socialized kitten who’s been around humans probably all her young life.

Her finder intends to go back and look again just in case there are more cats and kittens there, and she also wanted to let other people know where she found the kitten but she didn’t know who to tell. I told her I would share the Hazel’s photo and where she was found and if anyone else is near there and would take a look, or knows of a lost kitten, that would be fantastic. I did that as soon as I got home that day. I also be shared this on Facebook and other networks.

If no owner is found then Hazel already has her forever home. The woman who rescued her sent out a link to videos of Hazel playing like crazy with a cat track, and yawning. This is one lucky kitten!

It is a little sad that a healthy, friendly and social kitten was found outdoors by herself, but at least Hazel’s story turned happy and she was rescued instead of trying to fend for herself at this age, and if she survived she’d be giving birth to kittens in a few months. For all the ill and injured and traumatized kittens I’ve rescued it’s so exciting to see and celebrate a healthy and happy kitten. When I shared her in Homeless Cat’s feral and community cat group everyone remarked at HOW BEAUTIFUL  she is.
