Rescue Story: Kitty, Industrial Engineering Supurrvisor

Meet KITTY the shop cat! He’s the manager of this loading dock at an industrial engineering business in here in Carnegie.
I always take the back streets and alleys when I walk or bike or drive through town, and this longtime business is off in a corner of a neighborhood near the creek. And as I drove toward the business I clearly saw an orange cat in the corner of that doorway.

I guess he knows how to run this big machine.

He wasn’t too concerned about me when I pulled my car right up to the loading dock.

After posing for his beauty shot he went back to his nap.

I talked to a person working in that space and Kitty really doesn’t have a name, but that’s what they call him when they call him anything. He’s really nice and really friendly and he lives in the business. I’m guessing he started hanging around—yes, he’s neutered and might have been someone’s pet—and they started giving him bits of their lunches, then when the weather got bad, he came inside. I’ve known that to happen in many of these industrial businesses around town. My brother had worked for short periods at a few of them and gave regular reports to me about the shop cat.
About the place where Kitty, Industrial Engineering Supurrvisor works
They are proud of his prowess in keeping the place rodent-free. Most of these businesses, large warehouses on ground level with lots of product and equipment stored, are next to or near the creek so rodents of all sorts gravitate to these places. This business is about 50 feet from the top of the bank and it’s been there since it was founded in 1941 making commercial strainers for water plants, below, and blast furnace equipment.
As with all the shop cats I’ve seen in these businesses, he’s quite well-fed and very clean so I’d say he lucked out in choosing this place. And I think those humans lucked out too.

Kitty is really quite the handsome dude!
Great story. It could be in a book.
I have 15 years of them–I’ve been organizing them in different ways, working in determining the best way to present them, a couple of anthologizies, one big one. Now that my websites are back online I’m writing more.
