One Last Sunny Morning

Mr. Max enjoys the warm concrete sidewalk one last sunny morning.

One last sunny morning, find all the sunny spots and enjoy that feeling as long as you can.

Mr. Max started his last walk yesterday, doing his best to do all the things he’d loved in life, inside and out. We finished it with a sunny morning outdoors.

When the time came, just before Dr. Elgersma arrived, he got up and left the sunshine and walked up to the front door to go in. When Dr. Elgersma had her things ready he got himself up onto the table by the window and into the yellow basket and looked at us, telling us this was where he wanted to be. He got his sedative in there, then the final injection on my lap, just after 1:00 this afternoon.

I was hoping we could get him to more stable physical health before end-stage processes started. We had almost a week of improving and hopeful days. I will write more soon.

Thanks for following Mr. Max’s journey here, and mine. It’s been a long two years of loss.
