Coming Back Around

Mr Max asking me why we didn't do this sooner.
Mr Max asking me why we didn’t do this sooner.

This week I’m working on knowing what day it is. Because last week, likely the week before, I lost all track of that. Even with the farmers market this weekend, which I know is Sunday, I thought it was Saturday. I had planned to post just a brief post about Mr. Max on Sunday, which I thought was today. But today is acting like a Monday so here I am, with my Sunday post. I guess that means I’m kind of coming back around since he left us.

I’ve been missing him a lot, and last week was particularly difficult. I took notes and recorded my thoughts as I worked my way through my changing emotions and disbelief. After a time I came to an understanding, and within minutes I felt Mr. Max’s presence in the house, and in his places outdoors. His outdoor time was only 12 days but moved us beyond being a foster in a foster room trying to find his place in our feline family, to finding our place and space together. I love the photo above because we are outside, just eight days before he had to leave, and he’s talking. He was a very conversational cat, even though he said volumes with those big green eyes of his.

I look forward to writing about our experiences through his time here, the last few months, and especially that last day. I have two images of him I’d like to paint, one that comes from the first few days he was here, and one I visualized on the day he left us that is not from our outdoor experiences. I had originally planned to work on one or the other starting as soon as I could because there was no market that Sunday following, but that difficult week was on its way and I couldn’t get myself in a creative space until later and managed to paint a small commission of a house. I’m not sure if I will paint one by next weekend, but I think I’ll have the time to try. It’s like with Basil, I just want to see him again in good health in a posture I love and remember, and even touch his fur.

I finally got myself together last Thursday to get things ready for the Sunday market which I will share this week. Being out in public was okay. Now I’m ready to get back on my schedule so that I can share his story, and continue sharing all that’s happening in our feline family. Morty is lonely but he’s enjoying my regular visits. I’m taking some time before I try, once again, to integrate him.

I also finally got my “good” computer back from repair and will be able to switch out this v-e-r-y s-l-o-w extra computer which takes me more than twice as long as usual to create a post and share it. I hope to start sharing my regular posts tomorrow.

Thanks for following Mr. Max’s journey here, and mine. It’s been a long two years of loss.

  • So much love and loss. Or should it be loss and love? They may go hand in hand.

I know how difficult it is when someone we love leaves us, Max was a super special soul.

    • Indeed he was and I’m so fortunate to have shared part of our lives. Always wish he could have stayed a little longer.
