Marketplace: Two-layer Masks and Matching Accessory Bags

Feline-themed double layer masks with a pocket for a filter and matching accessory bags with my feline artwork. And some flower designs too!

I get the feeling we’ll need these for a while, so I decided to design my own mask with a few special features, and also printed accessory bags to match. I stocked up on the commercial-quality transfers for all this fabric printing and they look so vibrant and pretty, I’m very pleased with how they look. Yep, that’s me modeling “Inscrutable Cats”!

Yep, that’s me!

Of course, I had to print my own fabric for them using fabric transfers in four different designs, including one brand new one. Here are three designs you’ll recognize.

Each mask design is printed on fresh cotton muslin—no upcycling old tablecloths here. The commercial quality fabric transfer gives the fabric a little extra density to block droplets, and body so it holds its shape where you want it. Each mask is also lined with fresh cotton muslin, with the top seam left open to slip in another layer or two of materials for extra blocking.

I add elastic ear bands and also provide 24″ cotton ties if that works better for you. Masks are fully washable. I wash them after I’ve made and handled them for photography, then dry them and pack them into plastic bags wearing fresh gloves to avoid any possible contamination.

New Pattern: “Rescued Kitties”!

New pattern, “Rescued Kitties”

This pattern is adapted from one of my daily cat sketches I titled “The TNR Story”. The art was inspired by working in post op at the May 25, 2014 Homeless Cat Management Team TNR clinic. I study cats all the time but it’s not too often I get to handle that many cats in one day, especially when they are still pretty much under anesthetic, aside from a few ambitious ones. Cat after cat, large and small, male and female, solid, striped spotted, I cleaned ears and checked toes and combed fur for fleas and other parasites and finished off their ear tips, applied flea treatment and in passing studied their fur and their markings. At that moment, as I always say, they are all just cats. Read more about the art here.

New Accessory Bags

What better to hold your mask than a matching accessory bag? These bags are a little bigger than the ones I made last autumn, about 5×7, unlined and zip closed, printed on a variety of reclaimed cotton fabrics. They will fit your mask, a small bottle of hand sanitizer, a small package of wipes and some latex gloves. Below are all the designs.
