Marketplace: Pointy-eared and Eartipped, Feline Holiday Ornaments

handmade cat ornaments
Star of Wonder ornaments.

My “Star of Wonder” ornament is designed from my original “Star of Wonder” holiday card in 2012, more on that below. I handmake each ornament on a wood disk with a silver star, a light blue background and a navy blue cat silhouette, and trim the edge with silver.

All these elements have been consistent, but I make the ornaments in a different way each year. Some years the wood disks are 3″, some years they are 3.25″—this year, I have some of both. Initially, I handpainted the entire design on each ornament with a primer coat on all sides, then two coats of the background color, and I handpainted each cat and each star, but the star was white, more like the original design, and the edge was the color of the background. The next year I changed the star to silver and added the silver edge. The year after that I stenciled the cat and handpainted the whiskers and the star.

In 2020, the Homeless Cat Management Team requested an eartipped version of the ornament to give to volunteers, and that was so very popular that this year, 2021, I produced both regular and eartipped versions for them and for sale here. In addition, to save time with the extra volume, I tried out cutting vinyl to speed up the process and put less strain on my hands and eyes, and give more clarity to the design, and I love it! The two ornaments in the photo above are the 2021 versions.

And because I produce a limited edition of them each year, my label on the back lists the year it was made.

And to make it easy for you, I’m not going to make you jump to my website if you want to purchase them. You can use the shopping card information below!

NOTE: I have a limited quantity made, and a limited quantity of materials to make more—and limited time to make more. If you want them on your tree by Christmas, I’d better get them out this weekend! But don’t wait, unless you don’t mind getting them until after Christmas. I’ll be doing my best to keep up with orders!

The genesis of this design has a story, which you can read in its original post, as a holiday greeting card. I also offer this design on a votive, a garden flag, and a gift bag.
