“Only Good Luck!” is a design I put together on Friday the 13th of September 2019.
“Full moon, black cats and Friday the 13th all come together for good luck! I decided to make a little graphic with a photo of Mimi and The Four Housecats of the Apocalypse and one of my Harvest Moon photos. Well, this photo actually includes Basil and not Mr. Sunshine, but in silhouette, who really knows?”
I’ve intended to make it into a garden flag as soon as I worked out the best way to make them, and this is the year. And it’s not just for Meow-lo-ween because any day of the year is a good day to celebrate the good luck that black kitties bring to us!
And here is the original photo, which I titled “A sweet but blurry welcome”. Let that be a lesson about tossing blurry photos!
Flags are printed on cotton muslin with a light fabric transfer finished with a “hot peel”, which means I peel the backing off of it within seconds of opening the heat press, leaving minimal plastic coating on the fabric. Because the transfer is intended for light fabric it covers the fabric well and holds the art well, but doesn’t coat the fabric with vinyl the way the opaque transfer does. It leaves a little bit of body but no real stiffness, and never curls from wetness or cold like other fabric transfers.
The flags are printed on only one side. Though I can’t print on both sides, you can see the design really well from the back anytime during daylight.
Only Good Luck Black Cats Garden Flag, is 11″ x 15″, design imprinted on one side of a cotton/bamboo fabric panel with a 1.5″ rod pocket sewn across the top. Bracket is not included. Find it here!
I typically stock all garden flags, though I only print smaller quantities, usually no more than six at a time. If you’d like a quantity of flags, or a custom flag, please send me an email.
October Open House
Friday, October 8 to Sunday, October 10, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This will be my first round of all the merchandise for general shopping and early holiday gift shopping, including greeting cards and commissioned artwork certificates.
Above is my tent in the back yard from my July open house with the originals and prints sale. I’m including this tent and artwork in my upcoming open house, and also my regular festival tent with my “Last Autumn” photo exhibit. A portion of it will also include favorite photos from all seasons and genre. And as before I will also have displays on my front porch—garden flags, general greeting and note cards—and deck—the holiday shop—as well as in the house. Don’t worry if you’re nowhere near. I will have parts of the displays online for you to browse too.
I may expand my open house days to Monday. If you’ve been following me, you know the process—sign up for my enewsletter in order to get:
For local friends
- updates on content, activities and dates and times leading up to the open house
- my address and phone number so you know where to go
For distant friends
- the open house discount code to use on my website
- online displays of what’s available at my home.
Mimi makes sure she is front and center.
