Kelly in the Cat Library: 2011

tortoiseshell cat sleeping on books
Kelly Sleeping in the Cat Library

When Kelly sleeps, sometimes she just looks like a pile of legs.

The Cat Library was the place to be for a while there, then everyone got tired of it. It was always one of Kelly’s favorite places, though, and even though the slightly uneven heights of books may not seem to be comfortable, Kelly conforms her slender body to fit into each nook and cranny.

I had no idea setting up my cat book library in this way would make such a photogenic setting.

It was truly a trick to not get myself in this photograph as well, considering there’s a large mirror behind Kelly. Or perhaps I just don’t show up in mirrors. Ask my kitties about that.

This photo is available as an 8″ x 10″ wood-mounted image in my Etsy shop.

  • Beautiful photo! My torties (past & present) have always looked like a pile of legs also when they sleep…and I will never get tired of looking at those piles!

What happened to the last chapter about Kelly – how she came to live with you? I’ve been looking forward to reading it ever since your last chapter.

    • Denise, Kelly was the slender model, Cookie the well-rounded model and curled her legs, it was funny to see them sleep.

Thanks for asking about Kelly’s story–this week was all out of whack from the beginning with what I regularly “do”, graphic design, two newsletters that need way more work than usual and several other smaller projects that also took more time than usual. I decided I’d play it by ear and barely had time to sleep all week so I had to put everything on hold until next week. Hard to do, but that’s what pays the bills. I’ll be back to it next week, and thanks for asking!

    • Pam, I know, cats and books, what could be better? Well, a little art in there too.

  • I go to sleep while I am engrossed in a book sometimes, but not on it! Lovely 🙂

    • I love my books, but don’t know if I’d consider a bed made of them!

Bernadette, I love this photo! Besides being beautiful and the essence of tortitude, Kelly is a master teacher of sleeping.

    • Susan, remembering all the time that Kelly is a little nervous and uncertain, seeing her sleeping like a pile of legs nearly makes me cry.
