In the Sink

“Read My Mind.”

“Let me help you wash the dishes.”

No, that’s not what he has in mind.

“The perfect place to hide. No one would notice one small black cat in this sink full of pots and pans.”

Not quite, but getting closer.

“I want something and I’ll just sit here and be cute until you figure it out.”

I have an idea.

“Come on, Mom, the answer is right in front of you.”

He wants a drink of water from the faucet before I wash the dishes. Loud purr from Jelly Bean. He’s the Lead Faucet Drinker of the household and will show up any time one is turned on. If he’s so inclined, the Bean will just hop in the sink and wait until I figure it out.

How about some sweet-talk?

“But one of these days, I’ll figure out how to turn it on. Maybe if I whisper sweet things to it, the faucet will come on all by itself.”

I have a couple of sink drinkers too. Mama Cat and Sugar are ready every time I start to wash dishes. Mama will even beg for the faucet to be turned on a couple of times a day. Of course I comply. Who can resist?

    • I’ve had a few kitties who observed the dishwashing, swiping their paws under the faucet, and especially chasing the last of the suds down the drain! I was concerned about letting them drink after a friend had a cat who would ONLY drink from the faucet and didn’t get enough water, but I can’t resist either.

I don’t know what’s so magical to cats about water coming out of the faucet. Wesley usually jumps in the bathroom sink and curls up there just when I’m trying to brush my teeth. He knows there’s not much I can do until I let the water drip for him. The other two are kitchen sink cats. Great photos!

    • The Big Four grew up in a bathroom with dripping faucets, so I guess they’ll find them amusing all their lives. Every day they have to have their drink at the faucet! JB is the one who will try any faucet. I get a few great laughs every day.
