Featured Daily Sketch: No Room for Mimi, 2014

From 2014: Another iteration of “Perfect Fit” from earlier today, but this time not such a purrfect fit because there was no room for Mimi on the chair. Giuseppe in green and Bean in blue had taken the entire seat, and though she politely hopped up and tucked herself in the corner of the seat to wait for them to shuffle slowly and open a spot, they did not. Even when she uncurled her tail from around herself and tapped it against Giuseppe’s face, he did not move. What is a mama cat to do when her own sons won’t share with her? Walk on them, that’s what. It worked.
My old old computer in my studio went into retirement last week. The data is still there but it won’t run programs. This is the computer I usually use to scan all my artwork, and that’s the computer from which I usually post it. I’ve spent more time running up and down the stairs to draw in up my studio then scan downstairs, but at least I’m getting exercise. The big drawback is that the downstairs scanner is okay, but the one in my studio is fantastic. I’m looking for a new old computer for the studio, but until then I have this hitch in my work flow!
From 2026: I remember when that happened with my upstairs computer! I didn’t have the data backed up because I was moving things to my Dropbox rather than storing scans of my artwork on that computer, but I must have missed moving a couple of small original landscapes to that Dropbox folder. I do have all the daily sketches though!
And I looked for a photo of Mimi on top of the two from this date but I apparently didn’t take the time for one. I’m thinking I was finishing the sketch above because it includes Mimi’s tail tapping Giuseppe’s face, which came before she stepped onto them. In the search, however, I found a photo of all four of the siblings in the tub! So I’ll be sharing those photos soon, even though they’re from April and now it’s May.
Daily Sketches 2011 to 2015
I think I accomplished what I'd set out to do three years ago today, a challenge to me and entertainment and enjoyment for you: to create a quick sketch of my cats each day as a way to practice and experiment, and present the sketch on that day with no editing, no waiting, no excuses, just to do the sketch and share it.

It’s a lovely sketch.
Interesting, I think now. It was a style I was developing and fund to see it develop.
