This was the scene when Sunshine and Mewsette decided to cuddle down for a nap after the sisterly forehead lick earlier today (below).

Spooning together, Mr. Sunshine slept with his chin on Mewsette’s back.

I have always loved it when my cats settle on the bed in the afternoon. I often tiptoe up the stairs so I don’t disturb them, hoping to capture their naps in the reflected light from the window. I change the bedspread each month in part because of the collection of cat furs on it and because I find the change refreshing. I just changed the bedspread from the purple and white pinwheel quilt I love in summer to the white chenille in long awning stripes of texture, knowing it would provide a bright background to autumn afternoon naps.

Welcome Back, Brother, 2014

Apparently he’d been having a health issue:

“Mr. Sunshine hangs out with his brothers, but there are times when only a sister understands.

“He’s doing fine, after a bit of a slow start when he came home yesterday, a little hissing from his siblings, and staring from his mother. But mealtime brought them closer together, as did a family mousie hunt in the basement last night. Back to normal.

“Thanks for all your concern, everyone! I always like to let you know that we all feel the same love and fears for our kitties, and have the same dire thoughts sometimes.”
