Featured Artwork: Two Cat Paintings Accepted into an Exhibit

two cat paintings
Two of my cat paintings were accepted into an exhibit!

I’ve been looking for art exhibit opportunities, both local and virtual. On an exhibit entry site I happened to see that the Alaska Pastel Society was hosting their “Winter Pastel Show”, an online exhibit of pastel paintings, titled “Warm in Winter,” featuring subjects that make you feel warm in the dark and cold of winter.

I would guess Alaskans know way more about winter than I do in Pennsylvania, but I also know that happy cats napping or bathing in a winter sunpuddle makes me feel warm, especially in winter. In fact, most of my “cats in the sun” paintings were painted in winter.

No time limit on when the art was done was listed, and the art did not have to be for sale, so I decided to enter my two most recent cat-in-winter-sun paintings, “Chocolate Bath” from 2017 and “Winter Afternoon Nap” from 2018.

And both were accepted!

I’ll keep up with the show, which will go online February 9, and post a link so you can see all the artwork.

Wish me luck for an award, usually a cash prize! Entries aren’t free, but you can’t win an award if you don’t enter.

UPDATE: I did not win an award, but the show is lovely, lots of cats and dogs! Click here to view the online show.
