Daily Sketch: World Cat

I couldn’t sit in my studio today because a certain black cat had taken over my chair, so I took the hint and sketched him, his graceful curve and minimal details and the interesting light falling on him from the window and from my work lights. I used my favorite Pentel Hybrid Technica drawing pen for the lines of the sketch and standard watercolors from my limited traveling palette, blue, green, purple, orange and yellow.
I named it “World Cat” not because Giuseppe represents the world of cats or cats of the world (though he might like to think so), but because I set it aside for the finishing glance and it looked like an image of the earth from space, that lovely blue and green globe.
Or perhaps it worked out this way because I think the world of my cats.

Very nice!
I think Giuseppe wanted to remind you that it was Labor Day weekend maybe?
Purrs
Texas, I think you could say it’s his Labor Day celebration.
Another one that I love! It is the colours and the light! Yes the cats are your world, for sure 🙂
Carolyn, they certainly are. What else would I do with my time? And my paints?
This is SO beautiful! I think it would make a nice companion to Purple Cats, Red Blanket, if you can ever bear to part with it. Not sure I could, if I were you!
Paulette, you’re becoming a collector! I actually thought of that painting and you when I was painting it. I hadn’t intended it to come out similarly, but there it did! I gave it a good scan and I can part with it. As I always say, it’s better if I do because it keeps me creating. I’ll be sending out another e-newsletter tomorrow with a coupon, you’re on the list and this will be included in the e-mail. Thanks!
Bernadette,
Don & I would definitely love to own this painting! If you are willing, just let me know the price and how/when to proceed. Also, what coupon were you referring to last night?
Paulette, I had included it in the e-newsletter I was working on yesterday and just saw your response. Sold! I sent you an invoice, and I even have another frame just like the one I used for Lazy Saturday Afternoon! I’ll be in touch.
Bernadette, this is gorgeous – love those colors!!
Chris, I thought of you even before I began to paint, when I was still visualizing! And then again when I added that orange…
