Daily Sketch Reprise: Mimi en Silhouette, 2012

Channeling Steinlen with this one, and I even gave it a title in French.
Well, the title should be self-explanatory, it is indeed Mimi, who occupied my drafting table all day, and she is en silhouette—or nearly so. As she enjoyed a bit of sun on the windowsill I enjoyed the play of angled light on her fur.
And I’m really loving this new brush pen! I did want to use it again so I waited for une scène so that I could try a few new techniques.
Darn that Giuseppe, he has me speaking French from all his correspondence with Mlle. Daisy Emerald Marguerite. Perhaps I am also channeling what I learned of studying Theophile Steinlein.
See also yesterday’s sketch using this new pen, “Perfect Fit”.
If I had a dollar for every person who is wearing this as a tattoo, judging by the many Pinterest tattoo boards I find it on, I could probably retire.
. . . . . . .
What else did I sketch on this date?
Loafing, 2013

Mewsette loafs atop the wardrobe. She moved her face around so much, and each position was sweet. Guess I caught the one I was meant to have.

Original, Print or Greeting Card from Portraits of Animals

Mimi enjoys her daily sunbath while Mewsette watches the birds from my studio window on the second floor.
One more experiment with this brush pen, partly just because it was there. I love it when the cats are partly lit by sunshine, and dramatically. Here it pours in the window from nearly directly above, just enough to highlight them where they are near the window but leaving the rest in silhouette. Find it on Portraits of Animals or purchase a print or card below.
