Daily Sketch Reprise: Mimi Among the Geraniums 2

Well, the last time I sketched this in colored pencil I was hoping I’d have the chance to capture it in brush marker, so today I did.
The markers don’t blend as well as colored pencil, but Mimi enjoys her sunbath in a slightly more abstract way because it’s just her and the leaves. This morning was too cold to have the window open, but that made the little windowsill like a greenhouse, trapping the sun’s warmth in the corner with her.
I like both sketches. There are elements of both mix of tones in the colored pencil and in the brushy bright solids of the brush markers. Soon those geraniums will go outside for the summer and the chance will be gone, but we’ll see what else I can do before then.
Looks like a garden flag to me, along with the colored pencil version! Maybe I’ll do them back to back. It’s going to be hard to choose…

Thank you for your kind words on our loss of Eric. The many comments have been a great comfort to us.
Eric and Flynn, both of you, in the past four years I’ve lost three cats and I still read the comments I received for each of them. It helps to bring back the days when they were still with me, and the knowledge that so many people cared, most of whom I will never meet, still means the world to me. Thinking of you as your life slowly reorganizes, but Eric will never really be gone.
I like the cartoon-like boldness. Fresh and spring-like!
Thanks, Layla! That’s what I wanted, that bold and simple marker, as well as the earlier version I had done in colored pencil. Thanks for the visit!
That is such a good drawing. We like the colors a lot.
Thanks, Marg, it makes me happy to look at it!
Mimi being asked to pose among the geraniums again = one visibly indignant Mimi.
Meg, sometimes I’m not so good with the marker–it’s actually one very drowsy Mimi! I’m often unhappy about the way certain details turn out in my sketches and I decided if I use them I’ll make changes–and that’s one of them.
