Daily Sketch Reprise: Blue-Brown Cats

Mewsette gave Jelly Bean a very slow and thorough bath, just right for a sketch for me because they weren’t moving too much.

The blue is really more of a teal and I like that color—it’s in the cup of old pastel pencils I have at my desk so it’s always easy to grab. It wasn’t strong enough to carry the shapes, though, and once I got the teal sketch done it looked a little muddled. I chose the chocolaty sepia to add just an outline for definition, the warm color a nice complement to the cooler teal.

My goodness, I’d almost forgotten about this one—still one of my favorites!

. . . . . . .

And another I forgot to share recently…

Note first: I’m posting this early on November 10, though it is my November 9 sketch, because of the rule that cats may not be moved when sleeping, and my sketch book was out of reach when I wanted to scan the sketch. Could not move a happy Mr. Sunshine!

But this is actually Giuseppe and Mewsette settled next to each other like two loaves. Their two shapes are drawn in one line, beginning with Giuseppe’s paw just between the two, swinging around like a figure “8” to end in the center at their hips. When I looked at them, I saw this line of energy, so there it is. But they looked a little bare on the page so I added the crocheted blanket they are resting on.
