Daily Sketch Reprise: A Tangle of Cats at the Door

Back to good old drawing pencil, my first and favorite medium.
Not that they’d all keep still while I sketched them, instead I wanted to catch their energy, not sure how many or how detailed I’d get I let the sketch build itself and drew them one by one as they moved around at the basement door, looking out at the garden in the morning while I did some work in the basement.
Fun, all five in a row, I believe it’s Mewsette, Giuseppe, Bean, Mimi and Mr. Sunshine.
. . . . . . .
I’ve been surprised at the popularity of this sketch as well. I can only guess that my sketchy pencil lines really did capture their energy while they watched at the door. It’s one of the most often-viewed sketches of all time and gets at least one view per day, often as many as ten. This sketch is available as a digital print and as a wood-mounted print in my Etsy shop.
While I’m working on other art projects, my focus is consumed in other media and other subjects, believe it or not! And some felines are distinctly unhappy about that, but they can always nap. Gone are the days when the daily sketch was the only art I did, but I’m always glad to come back to them.

This is great!
Thanks, Maru! The bold, dark lines make me happy.
A “tangle” is an excellent description!! 🙂
Carolyn, their interactions are part of what I wanted to catch–they are so emotionally close to each other, unlike most other groups of cats I’ve lived with, that all five of them will do this sort of thing and there are no fights. It amazes me!
Well I can barely keep the kitties still enough for a photo…a sketch would be virtually impossible! …so color me impressed!!!
; ) Glogirly
Glogirly, sometimes when I can’t get a photo, I’m glad I can fudge it in a sketch! Thanks so much!
