Daily Photo: Snow!

Mimi with snow.
Mimi with snow.

Yes, Mimi, it’s snowing outside this window too.

And not just a little bit of it either—we didn’t get as much as others, but with the lackadaisical way it began in Tuesday, eh, flurries, rain, snow pellets, nothing stuck, even until night. Then later at night it began to snow, but still a light snow. What a surprise in the morning when the light of the snow woke me, thinking it was much later than it was. The cats were at all the windows watching. Later, the snow continued until after noon for a total of six inches. You can imagine Mimi’s pique when, for yet another day, her outdoor time was abridged by circumstances beyond her control.

Bella and Basil on a Beautiful Morning, 2017

Nice.
Nice.

As Basil and Bella enjoyed each others’ company in the warm sun at the top of the wardrobe I enjoyed them with my camera. Basil was insistent about bathing Bella, which is kind of a dominance thing between cats, but Bella puts up with it from him. They are as close as a brother and sister could be.

Below, there are lots of whiskers waving around.

Lots of whiskers.

And now Bella might thing that’s just about enough.

That might be enough.

Black and White on the Garden Path, 2016

There’s just something I love about this photo of Mimi walking away from me on the garden path. I asked her to do it so I could see what kind of photos I could get. She was such a good girl that she not only walked away from me, but she paused at the end of the path, and then turned around and walked back to me, just as if she’d read my mind, which I know she does.

We are stuck inside today with cold and wet and snow, not too much snow, but Mimi and I have gotten used to the warm sunny afternoons, and I’m disappointed I can’t work in the garden. But it’s spring and more warm sunny afternoons are on their way.

Ready for My Closeup

I’m ready for my closeup. Basil settles happily under all the lights as I set down a clean white board and turned on all the lights to work in my studio today.

Window Silhouette

Now Bella is in on the act. Well, I needed a break.

Running out of names for these silhouette photos. Sometimes I like the photographic shortcomings of my smartphone, like its inability to handle contrasts and losing all the detail in the lighter areas.

Mimi’s Tree Branch, 2016

Ahhh.
Ahhh.

Mimi loves to rub her face on things, especially outdoors. This stubby branch left behind on her branch is a favorite, just the right height and placement, and very sturdy for a lot of good face rubs.

I have been trying to figure out how to bring Mimi’s branch indoors. It’s connected to the mulberry tree which toppled over in an ice storm a few years ago and this dead branch is the only thing keeping it from lying down on the ground. It’s a nice long branch and not too big around, good angles for kitties to climb and scratch. I don’t have a single room big enough for it though. Below, Mimi stands on the next level and rubs her face on a small knot left behind from trimming.

Bean laughs because everyone is laying on him!

They have to do everything in groups of three, or four…or five. A friend gave me a new bed for them, and this is the result, four of them in the bed immediately, even if they don’t all fit. Jelly Bean is laughing because everyone is lying on top of him. How can I tell them apart? Well, look at those expressions! This photo is available framed or unframed, on canvas or on paper on Portraits of Animals.
