Daily Photo: Mama Deerie

Oh, Mama Deerie, did you feel my eyes on your back? My formerly feral eartipped feline eyes watching you browse in the yard? Don’t forget my heritage! I am a fine felioness! I have lived in the great outdoors and I know how to hunt!

Later Hamlet, fearless formerly feral panther that he is.

Mama Deerie wisely ran from the yard and escaped!

I’d like to thank the the wildlife for keeping the kids amused the past few days. It rained this morning and today is cool, but it rained so hard it came in the window because I hadn’t locked it!

Basil is curled in the midst of his fur siblings. It looks like a good place to be. Now that it’s cooled off, everyone can relax.

Daily Photo: Mewsette and Her Shadow, 2017

The bright sun on the basement floor in the morning makes such clear shadows you can even see Mewsette’s whiskers. The trick was just to catch her in her one moment of not-rolling-around.

I usually change the flowers in the vase each weekend and at some point during the week I see a nice photo. Here are two from recent weeks.
From June 18 when the daylilies began blooming, with some sprays of pink spirea.

From June 26 with Queen Anne’s Lace and St. John’s Wort found along the railroad tracks.

And sometimes, I just throw my hands in the air and have fun!
I am absolutely buying a big basket, for Da Boyz to snuggle in…your photos are delightful! Yesterday, a deer ran past me while I was walking my suburban neighborhood. If the animal hadn’t stopped and looked back, I would have thought I was seeing things! Sure, we are near a river, and there is parkland close by, plus a railroad (the animals follow the tracks), but this is only the 2nd deer that I’ve seen since we moved here in 1991.
You do need a big yellow basket for da boyz! I have more photos than I can keep track of.
We have deer everywhere. Every last inch of contiguous green space is developed. We have six back yards with an alley that was never developed, so we have a strip of overgrowth and a steep hill. This is their refuge. I see them daily. See this post about the two fawn hanging out in the street: http://www.bernadettestoday.com/double-trouble/ (it’s on a different blog), this one about finding a tiny one in my back yard: https://thecreativecat.net/daily-photo-tiny-visitor/, a wandering fawn: https://thecreativecat.net/daily-photo-made-in-the-shade/, finding a buck napping in my back yard: https://thecreativecat.net/animals-in-our-midst/, and this painting: http://portraitsofanimals.net/service/safe/#.XSjXPWR7mCo.
