Daily Featured Artwork: Snowy Morning, 2015
There are those old casement windows again. And windows with cats, kind of a theme in my sketches of my cats. Especially in this cold I don’t miss the cracked and warped old metal casements, but they had such character and were an interesting back drop to so many images of my cats. And the maple tree…but I digress.
What I wrote in 2015…
We had some snow this morning. Kittens [that would be Basil and Bella] have only seen snow in the air once before today, and are fascinated.
This is Bella on my bedroom windowsill first thing this morning, watching the air thick with flurries, and no doubt birds too, in the maple tree outside the bedroom window. It is also many other cats through the years as well as I’ve awakened and watched them utterly immersed in whatever was happening right outside the window. The little cat, the big window, it seems to be a theme.
Yesterday when I woke up and saw Bella fascinated by the early snow squall, this is what I saw, and I also remember that without someone to rescue her she’d be out there, she might be trying to feed herself and kittens like Mimi did, she might not even have survived, instead of sitting safe inside a big window in a warm house with her current career as an artist’s model. It’s not just what I see that’s inspiring, it’s what I know too.
