Daily Photo: Cookie and Daffodils

Because Cookie was outdoors with me for so many years and loved the spring garden especially I have many photos of her in the daffodils. They are just beginning to bloom and since Mimi wouldn’t model them, at least not today, I’m featuring a few photos of Cookie with daffodils, including these two I’d never featured before.

We went outdoors every morning, and as the sun began rising earlier I started working outdoors for a little bit each day though I still did most of the garden readiness on the weekends until May. Cookie is sitting on a log supervising my spring cleaning while the sun is still just up over the hill, and sitting on the log kept her off the cold damp soil and as things started sprouting she could see over them. That stump was the base of a branch from my beloved elm tree in my childhood back yard, and I used it in my yard as a seat and as a decoration until it totally rotted; at this point in its career, in summer it held a shallow plate that was my butterfly bath because the phlox bloomed there.

From several years ago, one of those mornings, I think Cookie is watching Namir. I like the odd angle, the blur and the crop. It’s as if I’m standing right there with Cookie, looking over her ear as I often did.

In these photos Cookie stands among the daffodils just before they bloomed, and you can see the tree stump in the back ground. I guess she’s walking around checking my garden beds.
