Studio Cats Working Hard, 2014

Bean takes advantage of all the color-balanced lights to make certain his little white thong is sparkling clean.

I have different uses for my studio accommodations and all the lights I’ve installed, but on a cool rainy day I’m outnumbered in there. Jelly Bean and Mr. Sunshine permitted me a small portion of my work table for some framing and packaging while taking care of their own business, as demonstrated below, in a tandem butt wash.

Eventually they settled out to supervise me, though Bean was very sleepy after all that bathing and Mr. Sunshine clearly thought he could improve on my performance.

My tortie girls still keep watch over my work, Kelly on the monitor of my upstairs computer and Cookie in hand-colored block prints drying on the wall; there are prints of Kelly as well. It’s always good to see them as I remember years of working under their careful supervision.

Catching Some Watts, 2011

Mewsette quietly enjoys the glow of my work lamps. Needless to say a black cat blocks the light in a very special way.

” ‘Work lamps’, Mewsette,” I say, “do you get the idea?”

Mewsette, laughing, apparently finds this amusing.
