It’s my annual Original Artwork sale: Framed Original Feline Artwork is 25% off, Framed Original Nature & Wildlife Artwork is 50% off!

I am heading to the veterinarian with Mr. Sunshine once again, and any purchases would be very welcome.

Spring cleaning? Redecorate a little with framed original feline artwork 25% off

As I make plans for this year’s new artwork I begin by assessing what I’ve done. And as I say each year when I have a sale on my original artwork, I don’t just paint it for me, I also paint it to communicate my moment of inspiration to others, so each piece is incomplete in a way if others don’t see it. And I’ve always found it difficult to move forward with new work, experimenting, innovating, exploring, learning new media, with all my existing work around me.

So for two reasons—I need to share my work with others and I need to move forward without the influence of so much of my existing work still here with me—I have a sale and hope to send some paintings to a new home and clear space on my walls and in my thoughts for new things.

It’s the one time each year when I discount my artwork 25%!

Use the coupon code ORIGINALFELINEART25

  • Smaller pieces are priced at $75 to $100, so you’d get an original painting for between $37.50 and $50.00!
  • My largest pieces are no more than $300.00, so you’d get a larger landscape at $225.00 or less!
  • All work is framed, even if you don’t see the frame in the image—see below for an explanation of photographing framed artwork.
  • The price includes shipping and handling in the United States, but I have to charge an extra shipping fee for Canadian and international shipping.
  • If you have a gift certificate from one of my events, you can use it now!

Photographing and displaying my framed original artwork

Unless you join me at an exhibit or personal show—or you visit my home— you don’t get to see my original artwork in its frame. Photographing original artwork is really complicated and tedious because of the glass, but over last year I took every chance I could to photograph my framed originals so I could add those photos to my posts here on Portraits of Animals. Of course, I was not always successful, especially with the larger paintings, but I’ll be happy to represent the framing to you if it’s not available in the product post.

This offer includes paintings that are already framed, but if you are interested in one that isn’t framed yet I’ll extend the offer, but there may be a wait while I get the framing together. You can see all the originals available on the Available Original Artwork page when you scroll down to see Original Feline Artwork.

All are available at 25% off with coupon code ORIGINALFELINEART25 until February 29, 2024.

Purchasing originals

When you purchase an original you make a significant difference in our operations here, and right now care for my cats is at issue, from Morty to Mr. Sunshine’s and Mimi’s senior exams and other tests to long-awaited checkups for everyone else here. It also helps me when creating new art to make room and send one of my favorites to a new loving home, just as if it was one of my foster cats.

Why spend extra money on an original when a print looks nice enough? Looking at the original artwork that was done by hand is very different from looking at a print. I’m careful with preparing my images for prints and they are faithful reproductions, but the original always has more depth and dimension, even though it’s a two-dimensional work. You get a piece of my inspiration when you get an original painting, one of the moments I stood on the landing and sketched Giuseppe and Jelly Bean on the bed, or when I watched the snow on the trail and tried to capture the feeling of a quiet, heavy snowfall.

Original art is a very special gift to give as well, and maybe someday they’ll even be considered an investment. I also have my Nature & Wildlife artwork on sale at 50% off until the end of February—read all about that on Portraits of Animals.

Art that’s included in the sale

I don’t always frame artwork right away because I don’t have a lot of wall space to hang it or even a lot of storage space where it can be kept from damage; keeping the artwork safe while I wait for a reason to frame it—an exhibit or a sale—is much easier and safer. But I’ve been participating in art exhibits for the past couple of years, for the first time in almost a decade, and that’s always a good reason to frame artwork right away. Paintings are often purchased from the exhibits, and sometimes they come home and then go right back out to another exhibit so not as much worry about storage.

All my feline block prints are included too.

And because I’ve been able to photograph nearly all the originals in their frames at these events I can add that to the galleries so you can see what the finished piece will look like, which I haven’t been able to do before.

I have a few last prints of Awakening and The Goddess and The Roundest Eyes from last year’s printing so I’ll need to print more before long. I like to clear last year’s prints before I start new ones.

I keep a few to use in other ways than framing, like decorative trays and mounting them on wood blocks. So the framed prints I have in stock are discounted.

    Beautiful, especially the tortie art.

    • Thanks, Ellen! Those torties, the only other coat color I’ve lived with more often is black.
