This Week’s Feline Activities on Facebook

All that noise? Us? We're just sitting here...

A roundup of, well, more than a week of feline updates on Facebook in no particular order. I had to curtail my computer usage to let my eyes heal from strain, then get a new pair of glasses. I spent a lot of time at my worktable instead of my computer and nearly three months later things are looking fine out of my new glasses. But looking at my cats is never a strain, in fact, it’s very healing.

The critters were busy overnight and first thing in the morning!

My back yard is a pretty happening place judging by the tracks–bird, bunny, kitty, and my own.
………………………

Three squirrels are chasing and wrestling around the backyard and up in the trees, an interesting parallel to three black cats who are doing the same inside. Must be something about a pretty snowfall.
………………………

Jelly Bean just spent a lot of time carefully fitting himself onto my lap between me and my keyboard and between my arms, and now he’s a solid purring bundle and I’d better just stay put, right?
………………………
A tense cat rescue: not giving any names to protect the innocent, but many thanks to the person who saw the craigslist ad for “free kittins” two of whom were said to be blind, who turned out to be blind from an infection, from a house where the owner said he might feed them to his snakes. He almost wouldn’t give them up. Within two hours they were contacted, found and kittens are on their way to a safe home right now–and thanks to the person who went to get them, and others who called about them. People wonder why we rescue. Fed to pet snakes, just remember that.

Sunshine gives the cabbage a good sniff and finds it unacceptable.

16 tons and what do you get…another day older and a big pile of wet icy snow. But I got a really good workout and that’s not a bad thing after a sedentary December!
………………………
Mama Bernadette just came back in the door from feeding the bids, but she was all covered with WHITE! Is this how Santa Claus arrives? We thought that person was already here.
………………………

Mr. Sunshine says, “Cabbage is not a food.”
………………………
I LOVE MY BOSS! I can say that now until the cats wake up and come downstairs, then I’m not the boss anymore, at least that’s what they tell me. But we all agree being self-employed is pretty cool.

Such kitten play among three adult black cats, tails up and scampering. It all started with an empty cardboard toilet paper roll which caused Mr. Sunshine to pounce three feet and spin a few 360s on his toes and Jelly Bean leaped over him into the tub and Giuseppe ran sideways through the doorway and went on from there.

Mr. Sunshine and Giuseppe greet our visitor.

Certain cats have been trying to convince visitors that they are affection-starved and perhaps worse…certain cats may want to think twice about that.
………………………

Jelly Bean is sitting right smack in front of me and I’ve been leaning to one side or the other for quite some time to see around him. Amazing how we can adapt.
………………………

If you’re a classical music fan or not…I heard a story of a practice with Ralph Vaughan Williams of one of his works, but the tuba made no sound. They looked in to find his cat, curled up sleeping, a perfect tuba mute.
………………………

I filled the mulberry tree feeder and the announcement cardinal let the neighborhood know the seed bar was open; I filled the deck feeder with chopped nuts and the announcement chickadee sang the same song.
………………………
Giuseppe, if you bite this necklace off of me I’m going to make you pick up every single bead and put it back together.

Two Black Cats in Autumn Sun

Eeeww! I am not a tissue for you to sneeze on! said Mr. Sunshine as he launched off my lap. I really didn’t sneeze on him, I didn’t!
………………………
I had other plans, but I was just overtaken by a combination of two black cats, green apples, a cobalt blue glass pitcher, and angled autumn sunshine. If I recover from this any time soon, I will post photos.
………………………

I like to share my Facebook content with those who are not on Facebook. I’ll also round up links to stories I’ve shared and include them in another post. If you’re on Facebook, find me at Portraits of Animals.
