Published Article on Fear Free Pets

I published an article about fear free techniques in trapping on the Fear Free Pets website.

I’m thrilled and really proud that my first article is posted on Fear Free Pets!

I chose a topic that I don’t see covered too often–managing community cats, in this case trapping cats.

Cats rarely just walk into traps–recognizing and addressing their fears, stress and anxiety is the only way it happens. I’m constantly explaining it to people and planning my trapping, or guiding/assisting others accordingly.

Learning cat behavior from lost cats to socializing feral kittens and recentering traumatized cats has truly helped me perfect not just successful trapping of cats, but with as little stress and anxiety for the cats as possible, and many happy returns, wherever they end up–and helped me understand my own cats day to day, since that’s where most of them have come from over the years.

Great Rescues Day Book

This information is part of what’s available in Great Rescues Day Book!

Each month features one of my commissioned portraits of a feline or felines and their rescue story along with a kitty quote on the left page, and on the right page the month name with enough lines for all possible dates, with standard holidays and animal-themed observances and events. Great Rescues also includes a mini cat-care book illustrated with my drawings including information on finding strays or orphaned kittens, adopting for the first time or caring for a geriatric cat, a list of household toxins and toxic plants, or helping stray and feral cats and beginning with TNR.

Each book includes also 10 sheets of my “22 Cats” decorative notepaper with a collage of all the portraits in black and white so you can make your own notes or write special notes to friends.

The portraits in this book, collected as a series, won both a Certificate of Excellence and a Muse Medallion in the 2011 Cat Writers’ Association Annual Communication Contest, as well as the 22 Cats Notepaper mentioned below.

  • Congratulations on the wonderful article. Those ideas are sure good ones, trapping can be pretty stressful.
