On Our First Anniversary…

Good morning my love, my love man cat, my dearest Giuseppe Verdi,
It is one year since I sent meows of my love for you. How quickly this year has passed… Oh Giuseppe, my mama and I left that place called Colborne and moved to the pretty house with the stairs called The Yellow House. This spring my mama and I came to live in our beautiful little home in the old limestone building. I met that pesky little guy called Pumpkin and his friend Wiccan…. Giuseppe, do you know that Wiccan really is a warlock familiar?!
I used to sit at the window and talk with those boys. But now I sit on my special windowseat and watch all the exciting events on Rue Montreal. I face the river and spend many hours dreaming of travelling down that river to the town of Carnegie to see my love man cat.
I am going to the window now, and I will close my emerald green eyes and dream a little dream of you Giuseppe.
Nuzzles and purrrrrrrrs,
Mlle Daisy Emerald Marguerite xo

Oh my heart beats like a hummingbird’s wings at news from my love, and as red as the color on its sweet ruby throat!
It has been a year since I was brushed with the stardust of your magic loving spell and have happily lived in the sunshine of your love these past days, weeks, months…and I so hope it will be years. I never once doubted the sincerity of your passion, even though other eligible ebony bachelors, that silly Feta and even the elegant Wiccan, gazed admiringly upon you and even entered your domain…our hearts have always been one.
I will likewise lie in the sun as it sweetly flows through the big north window from which I can see the sky above your city named for kings along the river upon which you gaze, even now, with your emerald green eyes, dreaming of you reclining upon your scarlet brocade bed.
Ah, Daisy, mia bella Daisy!… Bella come un’aurora…sempre, sempre…O giorni belli, piccole mani, odorosi capelli… O soave fanciulla,… in te, vivo ravviso il sogno ch’io vorrei sempre sognar!
(Translation: Oh, Daisy, my beautiful Daisy!…Beautiful as the dawn…always, always…oh, beautiful days, tiny hands, the fragrance of your tresses…oh, beautiful maiden… In you, sweet maiden, I see the dreams of love I have dreamt about forever.)
My heart is yours, sempre, sempre,
G.V.

Mlle. Daisy’s mom tells us Mlle. looks much like Mewsette; I used a photo of Mewsette to create the top image.
The Italian phrases above are some of Giuseppe’s favorites from his favorite opera role, that of Rodolfo in La Boheme; here is the libretto. In order to follow how he found this role in his life, read about his mom, Mimi, who is also named for a role in that opera, and the article where she talks about this litter of kittens.
