Mr. Max’s Big Adventure, and It’s Not at the Vet!

Mr. Max and I went on an adventure today! I stepped on the front porch to take a break from today’s work. He just wants to be with me so he meowed and meowed to go outside.

The second time I stepped outside, I let him come out with me. Real live Mimi’s Homegrown catnip!

He has been feeling okay but not too energetic, and no poop yet. He’s been on my lap constantly. Yesterday I was considering euthanasia, but with the bigger doses of fluids he improved immensely. I have an appointment with my veterinarian tomorrow for an exam and assessment. That may still be the decision. But for now, we are enjoying nature! And after these photos I’ve also included three I posted on Instagram yesterday, morning before I left for the farmers market, and…after the stormy disaster that cut it short.
After the first exploration out front, I took him out again and he really wanted more, but too close to the street. I carried him through the house to the basement door, and the garden.

He strolled down that exciting central path where the solar pawprints are, visited the wicker chairs, strolled back along the path, visited the rest of the yard–that’s not too overgrown for him to get to–and the turquoise wicker bench with so many cat memories.
Then up on the deck, and back in the door.

Later, I was upstairs, came down and had to look for him, and there he was at the basement door, wanting to visit the garden again.

These walks can provide sensory enrichment, and the activity is good for any cat, especially a cat who’s feeling like Mr. Max. But sometimes I call this walk around the yard “the last walk,” when even a cat with an end-of-life condition who’s never shown any interest in the outdoors suddenly wants outside, like they want that experience they’ve seen other cats have or just the experience of life on earth one more time, or for the first time. Several of my fully indoor cats through the years have done this, and all of the cats who joined me outdoors did at some point before the left.
But I’m super happy Mr. Max has enough energy for an experience like this. His response gives me some hope for tomorrow.

Three black kitties in the morning kitchen
Three black cats in the kitchen this morning, Bella on the cabinet, Mr Max draped over the chair back, Hamlet on the table. Nice to see them relaxed when I will be gone all day.
Sour Puss Faces
Went upstairs to say goodbye to Mr Max and Morty before I left this morning. Look at those Sour Puss faces.
Farmers Market Storm Disaster
So this is about how the farmers market ended today with a storm that came through shortly after 1:00 and lasted at least a half hour with really high winds and really heavy rain.
But the winds were the worst. Several people had their tent completely mangled. Another vendor lost her entire inventory of jar candles. I’m grateful for a friend and her friend who were in my tent and an older couple who were shopping in my tent who all helped me hold my tent down and then put it back upright when it did actually flip over. The only thing that broke was my glass Suncatcher samples and while we were holding the tent, a couple of them started putting my tent wall, that just kept getting blown down, over my table of stuff because the rain was coming in, so everything stayed dry.
That is until the second storm came along when I was just about done packing up and the rain came in sideways soaking my votive lamps and the tablecloths.
Sometimes that’s how it is, but will miss the income.

Or Go Shopping!
Especially after the market didn’t continue I miss that weekly income. And it was developing into a really good day with a lot of shoppers who were there for business. I sold $20 before the storm hit but spent the rest of the time, cleaning up and packing up. But you can go shopping on my website!
