Marketplace: Upcoming Events, Not Just for Local Friends

display at Carnegie farmers market
My current setup at events.

The first few events of the year have gone well, including the first farmers market—it was so much fun, so many people all happy to be there, and great sales too. My dishtowels, especially the ones featuring Mr. Sunshine without me even telling anyone about his cancer or raising funds, and of course Bella!, have just been walking off the table.

And I’m excited to see that, while my votives have always been relatively popular, I can barely keep my Upcycled Jar Lamps in stock. I’ve sold and replaced nearly all the ones shown below, and even come up with more new designs.

Garden flags continue to be popular, though Mimi is gratified that she leads the way with the most popular designs, probably because she’s the subject of about five of them! And I have even more designs than the ones shown below—that’s one of the photos I need to catch up with!

I had always included specials for our non-local friends in my open house offerings and discounts, but I’ll be doing something a little different this year to include both my local customers and those of you who follow me online. Right now, especially, all sales are very welcome for Mr. Sunshine and all the rest of our household! Scroll down for more images and information and a complete list (to date) of my upcoming events, but any time you shop in person or online you are welcome to use my customer loyalty discount: CUSTOMERLOYALTY10%.

And I have several customers who email me with a list of what they’d like and I make sure it’s in stock, or make it if I need to, add it up and I send an invoice or they send a check. I’m not stuck on my shopping cart software!

Open House Events vs. Small Weekly Events

I’m not sure if I’ll be hosting an open house event until the holidays because I’ve been seeing fewer visitors at my open houses and even at my solo event in June. Over the past five years of open houses my local friends have already seen and purchased a lot of what I offer, and while it seems appealing to stay home and set it all up here, I barely have a reasonable space to do that unless I can set up on my porch and deck, and put tents all over my yard in hopefully good weather, and even that doesn’t always go well!

Instead, I’m going to go with small weekly events, like the farmers market every Sunday, and pick up a few Saturday events along the way. Because part of the fun of my open house events and local events is the new items and the really one-of-a-kind items I make, I’ll be sharing those things here. I can easily photograph parts of my display that include unique items and share them in a post. And when I make several new items, like the new Upcycled Jar Lamps, they won’t be listed individually on my website, it’s just too time-consuming, but I’ll share them on my website in a group with photos and a list, like this page. That way I can keep up with the inventory and save time in photography and building product posts. And you’ll have all the same discounts I offer at those events.

Below are photos of more items. You can also visit my Handmade Gifts Gallery to look over what I have listed, though I always have things that aren’t listed too! However, since some updates to my site and servers, some galleries will not appear. I’ve been trying to resolve that and get some substitute up so that you can browse. You can always ask me to send you links!
