Marketplace: New Keepsake Boxes

This group of keepsake boxes is another batch of wooden boxes—where most of my keepsake boxes have been made from very well-loved vintage cardboard cigar boxes, most of these boxes are quite new and are made of various woods instead of cardboard. The boxes themselves still have the same wonderful traditional decoration, patterns and bling that I love to work with, and I have upped my game with more embellishments.
Here are three examples from the new group of 12 boxes available.
Below, this solid cherry cigar box with its unique inset lid was purrfect for Kublai’s roll in the sun in “Are you Looking At Me,” and the decorating stamping just called for some extra decoration somewhere else on the box. I have coffee cans of old hardware, knobs, hinges and whatnot, and one brass drawer pull purrfectly coordinated with the stamping and with the colors in the painting.
Mariposa in “Bath, Interrupted” fit purrfectly inside the gold scrolling detail on the top of this solid maple box, but, again, I wanted a little more detailing elsewhere on the box. I used the imitation Roman coins from an old barette, giving it a gold wash to match the scrolling and latch. Mariposa goes well with Roman coins, yes?
In moving everything in the house from one place to another last year, I was also able to reorganize and sort as I put things away. I have decorative ribbons and trims from high school when I started sewing and gathered all through the years, and it was everywhere! I managed to get all of it together into one big bin and a few smaller ones for specialty items. So when I prepared this “Peach Begonias” box I knew I wanted to decorate the sides rather than paint them. This box is a standard cardboard box but new, barely used, and it’s deep and roomy with a lot of space for keepsakes inside. I remembered that turquoise burlap ribbon and added that first over the text printed on the side, and I liked that, but when I added the rust-colored ribbon that gave it the finish I had pictured.
I didn’t make any of the smaller and medium mache boxes this time but I have quite a stock of them on hand. And new ideas! I’ll be working on those now that I’m back on my feet for longer days of standing in my studio.
What do you do with a keepsake box?
Use them to store your kitty’s keepsakes or your own, or jewelry or office items and much more. Many people use them to keep their kitty’s cremains. Give them as a gift or use them as gift boxes.
And don’t forget that I often have other handmade gifts using the same artwork, like Votive Lamps. They make wonderful gift pairings to celebrate a kitty who looks like the art, or to memorialize one. This grouping of “Peaches and Peonies” items is from a few years ago, but I make these types of gift items one way or another each year.

Order a Keepsake Box, or Two!
All keepsake boxes are $25.00 each including shipping, handling and taxes.
Don’t forget, each one is unique, and when it’s gone, it’s gone.

Mewsette models my keepsake boxes in May 2023.
Mewsette made her debut as a new-product model for my latest keepsake boxes on May 25, 2023. I wish we’d been able to see her talents grow, but I’m oh-so-glad she made herself available for this one opportunity. She actually came over while I was trying to work things out and hopped up on the wicker loveseat, always curious and interactive. I guess she’d watched Mimi enough times!
