Two years ago I had no idea losing Mewsette was anywhere near in our futures. Now I’m so glad I took the time in November 2021 to create “Waiting on Christmas Night,” planned for over a decade (read more below). I still feel Mewsette in the painting—the round green eyes, the slight head tilt, the big soft kitty. She really did wait in the window for me to come home, and I really took the photos of her in the window by the candle on Christmas night that I used for this painting. A good friend purchased the original painting that Christmas for her granddaughter who is interested and skilled in art and has a (mostly) black kitty. I would just love to think that more of the world can get to know Mewsette, and that’s one of the reasons I love to do my artwork.
I was so pleased when this painting won a Certificate of Excellence in the Cat Writers’ Association 2021 Communications Contest. I’m still pleased because I know Mewsette was and is always a winner. The next year, in October 2022, I took these cards to the American Association of Feline Practitioners conference in Pittsburgh and sold out of what I’d had printed for the holiday season—I couldn’t keep them on the table.
So wouldn’t you like to share holiday joy with a housepanther? Especially a nice kitty like Mewsette who waits for you in the window!
A special deal on a dozen “Waiting on Christmas Night” holiday cards
I’d like to start off the holiday season early for those of you who send greeting cards in the mail or give them with gifts—50% off a boxed dozen through the end of October. Normally $20.00 per boxed dozen plus $5.00 for shipping and handling, that means the cards themselves are 50% off. Later in the season I’ll have them at 25% off.
It’s never too early to get your holiday cards!
The cards are 5″ x 7″, printed on 12 pt. satin-finish card stock, packed in a clear-top white cardboard greeting card box. Cards are blank inside with opaque white envelopes—and I’ll likely surprise you with a few alternate envelope colors you can choose from, at least red and gold luster. You can order below.
Mewsette always sat in the window and waited for me in those days, holidays or not. I took a bunch of photos of her at the window when I had my holiday decorations up over several years from 2009 to 2013, and shared them on my website, The Creative Cat. After that year I quit with the candles because my fosters and my cats had too much fun, all I did was put them back in place, even though I had them taped to the windowsill.
