Marketplace: Autumn Garden Flags

Autumn Garden Flags!

Is it autumn already? Yes, and time for a new season of garden flags! After finally deciding on cotton canvas duck for the garden flags we have it down to go into production with colorful autumn designs for felines and nature, and one specifically for Meow-lo-ween. Mimi loves to model the garden flags, especially the ones she’s in! Below is “Only Good Luck Black Cats”. This design could be for Meow-lo-ween but customers have purchased it for any time of year.

About the flags

All my flags are 11″ x 15″ including the foldover for the pocket, printed on one side. They are printed on cotton duck canvas with a commercial quality fabric transfer. It leaves a little bit of body but no real stiffness, and rarely curls from wetness or cold like other fabric transfers. The professional-quality transfer is intended for light fabric so covers the fabric without the feeling of vinyl and holds the art well.

I had some pretty serious supurrvision as I made these!

Availability

Here are the four feline designs with links to where you can purchase them, or you can skip to the Garden Flags page in my Handmade Gift Gallery. I typically stock all garden flags shown there though I only print smaller quantities, usually no more than six at a time. If you’d like a quantity of flags, or a custom flag, please send me an email.

Don’t look too closely at the stitching on these flags—my sewing machine needing a little oiling when I made these. I haven’t had the chance to rephotograph them but I can assure you they look neater than this.

Only Good Luck Black Cats

“Only Good Luck!” is a design I put together on Friday the 13th of September 2019.

“Full moon, black cats and Friday the 13th all come together for good luck! I decided to make a little graphic with a photo of Mimi and The Four Housecats of the Apocalypse and one of my Harvest Moon photos. Well, this photo actually includes Basil and not Mr. Sunshine, but in silhouette, who really knows?”

I’ve intended to make it into a garden flag as soon as I worked out the best way to make them, and this is the year. And it’s not just for Meow-lo-ween because any day of the year is a good day to celebrate the good luck that black kitties bring to us!

And here is the original photo, which I titled “A sweet but blurry welcome”. Let that be a lesson about tossing blurry photos!

A sweet but blurry welcome.

Studio Window, Autumn

This flag is designed from one of my favorite daily sketches of my cats in the studio. You can read more about the sketch here. I couldn’t wait to see this one as a garden flag!

Out the Front Door

This painting serves for autumn, though I was happy to see it was popular through the summer! It’s Mewsette, Mimi and Giuseppe. You can read more about this design here.

Happy Meow-lo-ween!

This design was one of the first I had made eight years ago, and it’s one of the first I experimented with two years ago. I’m so happy to offer it again! You can read more about this design here. This flag is printed with an opaque transfer on dark purple fabric to ensure a good density of color, but this photo reflects the flag printed on light muslin. I’ll soon be doing a post on all the Meow-lo-ween ware and I’ll have an updated photo then.

For nature lovers too

I know many of you garden and enjoy nature and wildlife along with cats. These two autumn designs are portions of my two favorite autumn paintings of birch trees, “Birches I: Autumn Showers” and “Birches II: Radiance”.

Where to find the garden flags

You can find these and all my designs on the Garden Flags page in my Handmade Gift Gallery.
