Like a Salad With Your Salmon and Turkey?
Mewsette enjoys a nibble on the Boston lettuce I’m about to turn into a salad. Looks like a complete meal to me.
“No dressing, please. Thanks for the fresh water.”
Mewsette likes her salad greens plain and natural. I’ve known cats who liked salad greens before, but usually just for a nibble on something fresh and green. Mewsette is a serious consumer, at least as far as my cats go.
The funny thing is she wasn’t eating on that cabinet and I didn’t offer it to her, I only set the lettuce down for a moment so I could pick up a few other things and go to the sink, but she must have smelled the lettuce and jumped up for a snack.
Her list of other approved foods is an interesting collection, chick peas, roasted edamame beans, cooked oatmeal, macadamia nuts (I know they’re not good for her, I just don’t get that trail mix any more), any pasta cooked or raw, cherry tomatoes. I really can’t find a pattern, but I keep an eye on her.

I’d say Mewsette has quite an eclectic diet! My cat, Star, enjoys greens, too.
Chris and Amby, I wonder if it’s a black cat thing. Kublai, my first black cat and the most nearly human cat I’ve ever known, liked nearly everything. Chris, Amby has two brother cats from one of Mimi’s earlier litters. They seem to be most like Mr. Sunshine and Mewsette. It’s deja vu all over again because years ago she adopted two brothers from another litter I was fostering–and that time she adopted their mom instead of me!
Mewsette’s older brothers LOVE banana chips, peanuts and peanut butter, soy & flaxseed chips, cooked edamame, etc. Angus also likes oat cereal; I think Molly (the youngest of the elder girls and 10 years his senior) is partially responsible. She is an OAT NUT and has been since she arrived here. She loves oatmeal, oat bran (yes, the dry stuff straight out of the bag) and ESPECIALLY Joe’s O’s cereal (from Trader Joe’s). Needless to say, these are available to them in “treat quantity” only.
Amby, I think you’re the OAT NUT and they all try to imitate you! I wonder, does Kenzie, the former feral, have any interesting food fantasies?

She had her meat course and decided she wanted a salad. She really does like it too.
