I’ll Be at the Farmers Market Each Sunday, Including Yesterday!

I was so busy last week finishing things that would not dry, and trying to build my new display in my yard so I could see if it would work that I forgot to post on my Thursday Marketplace post that the Carnegie Farmers Market started this weekend! Unless something comes up I’ll be going each Sunday, except Labor Day weekend, until September 21.
I love this market as one of 50 vendors, more than half food and beverage vendors and the rest makers and crafters and services, one quarter mile from my home. It’s only $10 for each market and you can’t beat that! I actually do a good bit of shopping at both the fresh vegetables and other goods. I get to meet new people for my art and gift items and have found many customers for my Custom Pet Memorial items, then several others discovered my black and white film photography and my artwork. I also encourage local friends who want to see and do a little shopping of my things to visit my tent there, and pick up things they’ve ordered. It’s a nice little income stream.
But in the past it’s taken a lot of time each week to prepare for that Sunday and then the whole weekend of finishing and packing and unpacking can go to it too, which took so much time from other things I need to do, want to do and enjoy doing. For instance, I love to post here on the weekend with different posts from my weekday posts but had no time to prepare the posts. My goal in getting ready for this market was to make most of what I’d need through the summer, settle the layout of my display, then only have small projects during each week to replace things that sold and have the time to work out and create new items now and then.
So wish me luck!
First Farmers Market Sunday
Well, the first Carnegie Farmers Market of the season is a wrap–a very hot wrap at 94 degrees on Main Street in full sun on the pavement! Thank goodness my tent canopy has a “silver lining” that reflects a lot of the heat so the shade is actually cooler. The 5-10mph breeze was very welcome even if it tossed tablecloths and papers around.
I’ve got all the kitty stuff and got to talk to all the cat people who strolled along. The tiles were eye catchers! Lots of interest in Custom Pet Memorial gifts too.
I did change my display, the biggest being one wide table down the middle of the tent with shallow two stepped levels down the middle for all the small gift items that go on a table.
Custom Pet Memorial items are at the other end of the table with the suncatchers, sample portrait and signage up on the display panel in the back.
Customers can walk in a U-shape and look at the table from all angles or turn around and look at the artwork.

I did not get my display walls done before today and that will be the other big change so that I can have framed prints and photography, garden flags and dishtowels and cat signs and anything else that can hang on wire mesh panels around three sides.
Thanks as always to Mary for roasting along with me today! I couldn’t get this thing set up and ready in time without your help.
I missed all of last year, so it’s good to be back. Also got to visit some of my favorite vendors.
Looking forward to next week!

I am in space number 20, right across the street from where I was before.
What’s in my tent?
Really, I missed all of last year’s farmers markets so I’m almost out of practice. Below are photos of my market tent from previous years just to show you some of what I’ll have. I’m working on completely rearranging my display so I don’t have any photos of it yet, but I think it will look neater and be easier to walk around and view things. I have had a few small events that helped to work some things out, but I’m really excited about this new display.

That back wall includes the “window” display of my Custom Pet Memorial Suncatchers, but they are almost hidden against the latticework pattern. When I have wire panels all around that will allow more light and less obstructions to shine through the suncatchers.
You can also visit my Handmade Gifts Gallery to look over what I have listed, though I always have things that aren’t listed too.
Here’s the schedule at the moment, and I’ll be adding to it as a few other things are finalized. The farmers markets are Sundays, and I may also have a Saturday event here and there.
