Friday Four and More: The Blob, Revisited

Today’s Friday Four and More isn’t all four of the siblings though at first I thought it was when I found these photos from August 1, 2017. I knew I’d used one here on that date so I looked up the post and found one of the Blob was actually Bella with Jelly Bean, Mr. Sunshine and Mewsette. That’s actually one of the reasons I’m glad I used so many of these photos so I can identify any cats who are facing away or who I can’t see enough of their shape to tell who they are. But that’s okay for this one because I had other views in addition to this one and it tells a little more of the story.
Here is what I said with this photo in 2017: “I went down to the kitchen after I’d been working in my studio last night and this was what I found when I turned on the light. A blob of four black cats. Conspiring purrhaps? It’s Mr. Sunshine, Jelly Bean and Mewsette using Bella for a pillow. Bella, the “kid sister”, was thrilled for her big fur sibs to use her for a pillow, and didn’t even turn to look up at me when I came in. Either that or they were guarding their cans of food. They stayed there as I got my glass of water, waiting for me to leave. I could tell.”
I only used that photo in 2017, so here’s what’s extra—there’s a chain reaction bath happening in this series! Something that happened daily with them, one turns and licks another, who might lick them back or turn and lick another one, and sometimes they all ended up licking each other.
Above, Jelly Bean is licking the side of Mewsette’s face, in the top right of the Blob, Mr. Sunshine is to the left of them and Bella is below them with her paws and head hanging off the cabinet.
In the photo below, Mewsette has turned to lick Jelly Bean’s forehead, and we have a guest appearance by Basil, over on the stool by the door, wearing the purple calming collar. Mr. Sunshine has closed his eyes but has not moved and Bella has not moved.
Below, Mewsette has turned to lick Bella, who is not moving out of respect for her foster family and fur siblings, and Mr. Sunshine has not moved at all.
And in the final photo, below, all bathing has ended and all are asleep. Mr. Sunshine and Bella have managed to not move as all the bathing activity was happening. They are all content to be piled together, as the siblings and sometimes others did each day. Each day I would find them somewhere in a heap and I’d often wonder how they ended up piling up in the place they were, as here, on the cabinet. I know they always had their reasons, and they always kept life interesting. They all loved each other, and the other cats.
Below is the one photo in the original post, but scroll down below that to see other photos, as usual, all different, just fun to see.

Bella’s Baking, 2015

Bella was very pleased I included her in my baking plans this morning. I set everything out to make lemon poppyseed muffins, including two lemons. She couldn’t believe her luck!

Let’s see if I can make this thing run!

How about over here?

It’s hiding from me!

I found it! Off the edge!

Back to the other yellow toy, she shoots and scores!

Good thing I needed to juice them anyway with all that bumping around! I don’t let them in the mix when I’m putting things together, but they always need to see what I’m doing and feel they’ve helped just a little bit.

Feline Variations, 2012

There are never enough hours in the day, nor photos of black cats posing naturally for an impromptu photo shoot.
It began innocently enough with Giuseppe and Jelly Bean sitting side by side on the stool watching the wildlife on the sidewalk in front of the house, namely a mourning dove and a chipmunk.
Then Mewsette joined them. The stool is really not that big and it was quite the task for the stool to hold all three. Time was running short for me in the afternoon, and the card in my DSLR, which would have taken better photos, was full but I could not pass up the opportunity to catch the three of them in natural poses. I sat on the floor with Sunshine on my shoulders—literally—being the perfect foil for their attention.
However, most of the photos were a little blurry or contrasty since the little camera only sees black when I focus on more than one cat at a time. I’ve been looking at vintage photos and playing around with filters in Photoshop again, and wanted to try out a certain combined filters and techniques, so each photo has a different appearance. Please enjoy the slideshow.

Feline Photos from Portraits of Animals!

It’s Giuseppe, Jelly Bean, Mr. Sunshine and Mewsette, who were fostered in the “old” bathroom, before it was remodeled, and everything leaked. They grew up assuming you could drink out of any faucet, and still, years later, gather in the bathroom sink in twos, threes and fours, asking for a drink. I feature this photo each year at St. Patrick’s Day, though neither they nor I are Irish.
Who knew that vintage mint green sink would photograph in such a rich tone, especially when filled with a black cat? From the time I installed the new bathroom, the black cats owned it and the contrast of their black fur with the mint green fixtures and white walls and floor has been stunning and created some of the most favorite photos in my cat collection. Best kind of blob ever.
Much prefer this blob to the one in the movies.
That is some adorable blob!
I want to go in there and put my hands in that blob.
