From 2014: Giuseppe and Mewsette settle under the lights above the cabinet in the kitchen. These early autumn evenings and pumpkin pie baking have kept us all in a cozy spot. I love to watch them and the shadows they make. I have a sketchbook and materials down there, so we’ll be seeing some more of them.

In 2025: Wow, those were the days! I did bake endless pumpkin pies from my own pumpkins. Can’t get away with eating that much pumpkin pie now! But it sure made the kitchen cozy warm for the evening. Often all the cats in the house would gather and hang out there for the evening. Those are wonderful memories to have now when I’m often alone in there for hours.

Looking at them I knew the silhouette of the cat on the left by Giuseppe by his nose and cheekbones, prominent, and very different from his mom and siblings. On the right it could have been any of the other three siblings, but given the choice of Giuseppe or Mewsette as I’d noted in 2014 I knew the cat on the right had to be her.

I think I accomplished what I'd set out to do three years ago today, a challenge to me and entertainment and enjoyment for you: to create a quick sketch of my cats each day as a way to practice and experiment, and present the sketch on that day with no editing, no waiting, no excuses, just to do the sketch and share it.
