Featured Daily Sketch: Kelly in Warm Colors, 2012

From 2012: Because I always hope she feels the warmth of love.
warm colors…right after her hatha yoga bath. It turned out to be all about Kelly today, but she was so enjoying the sun on that cabinet, and I was so enjoying her.
This is done in my old friend, pastel, or chalk pastel to differentiate from my new friend oil pastel (read this article to understand the difference between and how they are made). This is the joy of daily sketches for me, that little exploration.
From 2026: This was just two months after Cookie, Kelly’s best friend after losing Namir, the cat she’d arrived with as fosters, and Peaches. And Kelly didn’t last long without Cookie; we lost her in August. I knew she was grieving and lonely, though Mimi and the siblings tried to console her and I always had time for her. This little sketch of her in the kitchen in her favorite spot at the sunny window really was my wish for her to feel what we were all messaging to her.
Daily Sketches 2011 to 2015
I think I accomplished what I'd set out to do three years ago today, a challenge to me and entertainment and enjoyment for you: to create a quick sketch of my cats each day as a way to practice and experiment, and present the sketch on that day with no editing, no waiting, no excuses, just to do the sketch and share it.

It’s beautiful.
I still feel Kelly in that little sketch.
