A dark and quiet Sunday afternoon led to long, still naps in the shadows of the afternoon bedroom. Jelly Bean uses Giuseppe as a pillow, which Sunshine curls in a tight ball by the pillows. Needless to say, I didn’t really have to hurry to catch this one—they really weren’t going anywhere, and in fact were barely moving.
Truly, seeing black cats sleeping like lumps of unmoving laundry on my bed is hardly unusual, but it was that very stillness, the anonymous shapes, the deep shadows and tentative highlights I did my best to capture here in black and white pastels.

“Quiet Sunday” orignal matted and framed.
Find the Artwork
I sold the original matted and framed as you see here not long after I’d sketched it.
I’ve prepared a set of prints of this sketch since the original sold. This signed digital print is 8″ X 10″ made on matte-finish letter-size acid-free 100 lb. digital paper. Although the original sketch was 10″ x 7″ I added extra background so the print would fit a standard frame or mat size.
A print framed like the original would be $75.00. Please ask if you are interested.
