Daily Sketch: My Basket

Hey, if you get some black cat hair with your order, talk to Giuseppe. I have temporarily lost the battle of the basket. He knows it’s the focus of my attention, so he has occupied it.

This is drawn in brush pen like the last view of Giuseppe in the basket, “Just Fits”. This time he has some deep black areas that contrast with the light coming across his fur at an angle, and he’s very pleased with his own composition. So in this brief moment before I unceremoniously dump him out of it—and I do, with the same smugness with which he occupies it—I get to sketch him and he thinks he’s won the game. But the game never really ends!

A friend’s studio cat

Blogging friends are fun to visit. I had discovered this couple through my photo blog and found they were also artists and had a family of rescued cats, and live in Australia. Yesterday she posted one of her paintings, which I really like, as well as her studio tortie, Saffron, sister to Licorice. Visit her post to see the lovely Saffron and the painting, and her other cats, and see those of her husband as well.

  • Thank you for the mention and I’m glad you enjoyed my painting. Love the picture of Giuseppe. As with all cats I like that he has chosen a place to sit that is in reality probably just slightly too small for him! A great brush pen drawing. Giuseppe knew that he would make a better subject with the basket!

    • The basket is definitely too small for him, but it’s what I’m paying attention to at the moment so he can find a way. We love both torties and art cats here! I had two torties until last year, and both were regularly in the middle of all my projects, but I love to share any of my cats in the middle of my things.thanks for the visit!
