Daily Sketch: Mimi’s Bath Flourishes

in sketch of cat bathing
“Mimi’s Bath Flourishes”, ink brush pen on multimedia paper, 5″ x 4.5″ © Bernadette E. Kazmarski

Mimi sits squarely on a little folded square of blanket, having a very thorough bath, including lots of little flourishes to gake sure each hair is cleaned. Sketched in ink brush pen while Mimi bathed on the floor next to me.

  • You have a gift for ink drawing, Bernadette. I love the blanket’s economy of line contrasted with the luxe treatment you gave to Mimi. She even looks French!

    • Meg, you always see a little deeper into my sketches–that plain rectangle was so intentional with Mimi’s flourishes–usually these sketches are just the cat, but I really felt the blanket enhanced Mimi. And remember, the accent is on the second syllable, in the French way!

    • P.S. As soon as I was finished, I decided I would use this image as a repeating pattern like “Just Fits”, and make the blanket a different color in each one and add a background color!

      • Outstanding. Maybe you should have Mimi lying on a blanket made of repeating “Mimi-lying-on-a-blanket” fabric.
Too mind-blowing? Too Dada? Too Stephen Colbert?

        • Or in a wide picture frame covered with Mimis on a blanket?! Spiegel im spiegel?
