Daily Photo: Why Do Humans Have to Paint Their Faces?
“Why do people have to paint their faces and do noisy things with their hair?” asks Lakota as he sits on the windowsill watching me paint my face and flip my hair upside down to give it a little touch up with the blow-dryer. “Why can’t they just lick themselves and have a nap? That’s the best beauty program there is. It’s worked for me for 20 years.”
Well, my boy, there you have one of the basic differences between cats and humans…

I didn’t actually take the photo of him while I was upside down drying the underside of my hair so it wouldn’t grow moldy in this humidity, but I did get the idea because he’d sat there on the windowsill watching everything I did with that righteous cat frown. I got my camera and spent the next half hour trying to get him in the same position with the same expression. Somehow, I think he was just as doubtful of my photographic efforts as my so-called beauty efforts.
No, his eyes have not turned green, they are reflecting the sink.

Faraday, five black cats have not yet convinced her of this, if this guy does we’ll have to have a talk with him!
He looks pretty handsome in this shot, love the expression… and I think the boys at home wonder the same about my grooming.
He always looks a little disapproving, Maru, but I know it’s an act, he melts when you pet him.
