Daily Photo: What’s On My Desk

Could you work in the face of this?
Mr. Sunshine does plenty of things for attention. As my engineer cat he figures out how to do things and announces he’s accomplished something so that I can come running. As the cat with strange food cravings he can be heard chewing on things he shouldn’t, especially the last little scrap of plastic I’ve forgotten to hide and left available to him, or the long-forgotten milk bottle ring he worked at for nearly an hour and finally pulled out from under the stove.
But when he does this cute and cuddly thing he’s actually well on his way to sleeping, and he only begins the rollover nap when it gets hot, to cool off his belly when he’s relaxing. And to totally distract me. And it works every time.

Our dad calls this and anything similar “summer position” ’cause just as you said, we’re doing it to cool off our bellies. We know our mom could not work under these conditions. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
Janet, Sunshine is the only one who feels the need to air things out, but I am certainly glad for the break when he does!
