Daily Photo: More Photos of Mimi in Her Tree

Mimi walks the branch.
Mimi walks the branch.

My little Mimi in her recumbent all-natural cat tree in the back yard. It’s the mulberry that gently laid down in a heavy snow, at one time produced berries as big and purple as blackberries, but now is mostly dead branches. Mimi likes to walk all over it and use it as a big scratching post.

I took this photo using my original 50mm f1.8 prime lens from my very first Pentax K1000 camera, which I still have. I use this lens with a 1.5X converter to mimic a macro lens to photograph details of nature: flowers, insects, snowflakes. I was photographing water droplets on flowers, and on Mimi, as we had a sweet, light, misty rain. That old Pentax lens was an excellent lens, and I got a Pentax DSLR because I could use all my old analog lenses with the DSLR.

Here is a gallery of more photos of Mimi on that branch. The challenge of it is that it’s a manual focus and has a very shallow depth of field because of the converter, so as she walks I am spinning the focus ring to get something in focus. I have a number of blurry photos, but these were the best. I used the last one as today’s Wordless Wednesday post.

We were both very wet after a while. My dress reached my ankles and slapped against them as I walked through the wet grass, but my hair is thick and puffy enough that I could go quite some time before any rain got through to my scalp or shoulders. Mimi was purring loudly. She was very pleased with our excursion.

And a gallery of the flowers I photographed, spattered with tiny raindrops. Usually we have deluges that flatten everything, but today we had a nice misty rain that coated everything with tiny sparkling droplets. Someone let Mimi and me out in the backyard.

Smokie in a Basket, 2015

Crazy Smokie.
Crazy Smokie.

Smokie wants to show that he can look as cute as Bella in the basket, so he modeled for a series of photos. What can I do but oblige, especially with those crazy eyes?

And then he decides to relax, wrestle with Bean, then relax some more. What a life!

Yesterday

Carnivores want to know what flavor of muffins are on the menu today. (No, I don’t let them eat muffins despite the fact they love them, and they have to go off to their observation points before I continue. Mad faces. )

Muffins.

The Garden Bean
The Garden Bean

The beans are growing, the geraniums are blooming, the sun is bright and hot, and I remember a certain sweet gray kitty who spent every available moment on the brick patio next to my garden, summer and winter, and each time I look at the florid overgrowth out there I remember how Moses enjoyed the little brick patio. Other kitties would come and go during the day as the heat and their interest waned, but Moses was serious about her outdoor time. This photo is also available in black and white, because I couldn’t tell which I liked better. Read more, and purchase.
