Yes, locked out! Of the basement of all places!
Yes, but I got my new hot water heater today. It has not been fun taking cool showers and asking if I can borrow others’ baths for nearly a week! My old one finally let go last week, dumping its contents on the basement floor just before three days when I’d be super busy and not even here. So I waited until this week for a good deal. But that was the other thing over the weekend that took the time. Glad that’s done with now.
Mr. Sunshine, the engineer, was understandably the most upset at not being able to help or even supervise.
I think this probably means that, for cats, a bowl of cherries is not a life. Perhaps that was what Mewsette thought the cardboard was saying when she gave it a test bite as you see above.

Why Do Humans Have to Paint Their Faces?, 2013
“Why do people have to paint their faces and do noisy things with their hair?” asks Lakota as he sits on the windowsill watching me paint my face and flip my hair upside down to give it a little touch up with the blow-dryer. “Why can’t they just lick themselves and have a nap? That’s the best beauty program there is. It’s worked for me for 20 years.”

Clean Tortie Toes, 2012
You can say all you want and Kelly won’t pay any attention, not until her toes are scrupulously clean.
She always enjoyed her vigorous baths on the sunny windowsill in my studio. And she always made the most disgusting noises I have ever heard from a cat while bathing!

A Rainy Morning, and…a Video, 2011
They were so darned sweet this morning when the rain was gently falling on all the leaves and the bird were tweeting their little hearts out. Mr. Sunshine and Mewsette were bathing themselves, each other and Giuseppe, who is that lazy lump between them, before settling down for a serious nap. I had originally planned to make a slideshow of the process, but decided to try out the video setting on my little camera.
It’s a little dark but you can reference the photo above to figure out who is bathing whom—apparently the settings I use for photographs don’t transfer to the video—and you can clearly hear the hiss of the rain and the tweeting birds. It was a very nice morning.
