Daily Photo: Deliciously Lazy

Ophelia was deliciously lazy today. Note that she is resting her head on the end of her tail.
She has been adjusting well lately. Hamlet was moving faster than her, and far more confident, while she was often timid and hiding, but friendly when she felt safe in a familiar room. But this fourth try at letting them out most of the day has finally done well for her. She explores the house carefully, and she does run from me when downstairs, but she always returns to her familiar space upstairs and is very friendly, as sweet as can be, so precious it’s really hard for me not to scoop her up and hug her, but she would be terrified. I must control myself and not squeeze the floofy. But I did pet the belly, which she loves.

Cats have such difficult lives. The four siblings are trying to decide where to nap today.

Daily Photo Reprise: Tortie Sez, “Game Over.” 2011

This is the tortie version of, “Get over it, mom. It doesn’t make sense to get mad at the computer because it doesn’t care what you think. We do. Just pet one of us and everything will be okay.” Last year I had a big pile of work that wasn’t getting done, but Cookie put it in perspective for me. The computer I got mad at is sitting silently in the back of my studio where I still have a few files to pull from it, but it’s officially retired. Four years later and my desk is no neater, though.
Cookie tires of me paying so much attention to my keyboard. She tried various other methods of making me stop—sitting in front of it and looking cute and purring, sitting on the keyboard, walking on it, shoving my papers around, all of which did distract me for a short time.
The Tortie Paw method did indeed work, as you will notice she is not merely draping her paw lazily over the keyboard, but is gripping it at the bottom, ensuring that I can’t use it until she’s ready to let go.
It did distract me at least long enough for me to get my camera and take a picture. She’s not too fond of the camera, either.

Sheri O’Leary, this one’s for you! That’s your little raindrop! She is two pounds today! She will be spayed at this Sunday’s clinic and then she’s ready to come home. I’ll be in touch!
Today I added: OMG, little Splash aka Charlie about to go berserk in the sink, just because! What fun it was to have Charm and her kittens!

Ophelia is such a cutie.
Good to hear she likes belly rubs 🙂
