Daily Photo: Colorful Autumn Morning

Mimi strolls along the back of the green wicker settee in brilliant autumn sunlight on a morning so colorful that my creative mind is firing on all cylinders.
I took so many photos last Monday that I decided to share them in at least two posts, and I still haven’t used them all! In last week’s Two Tree Panthers I shared photos of the girls in Mimi’s tree, together and apart among the branches, because Mewsette had never actually climbed the tree before, where Mimi does pretty regularly. This week I’m sharing Mewsette in the tree and moving through the leaves on the ground, while Mimi revisits the green wicker settee and also sits among the scarlet leaves of the burning bush, and one more tree photo. I wish I had all the time in the world to just take photos and share them, and paint from them and in the moment too. But at least I get to do this.

Mimi in silhouette. The sun was so bright with just a bit of mist.

Mimi, as she constantly proves, finds excellent spots for photo studies. I’m sure that’s not her goal, she just finds a spot she loves and owns it, and I run around like a fool with my camera. But I know she is aware of my attention as well as her own enjoyment in the moment. She found a very sunny spot at one end of the settee and inside some branches of the burning bush and I had an idea of how she might look through the burning bush.
One more photo of the two of them in the tree, this time both of them doing what they do and ignoring me. I like that.

Now it’s Mewsette’s turn with three photos I didn’t get to use the last time. Here she is exploring her new space. Look at those whiskers!

Does she spy prey down there?

The graceful panther.

More wonderful memories.
And a video!
I’ve been having fun making little videos, mostly of Mimi and Mewsette outside though I’ve been moving inside too.
Mimi enjoys her 19th autumn
You’re never too old for a run through the leaves. And up the steps. Mimi is enjoying her 19th autumn.
She does these little runs at least once a week. I really wanted to capture her crunching through the leaves and running up the steps, and after just capturing too many videos where she looked at me and walked in the other direction, I finally did!
Sorry for the shaky video, I was petting Mewsette with my other hand.

A Warm November Afternoon, 2021

It’s time to get back to the fun of blogging after an emergency customer newsletter took up last week, along with some cat stuff. We had our very first colder days and frosty overnights, but if the afternoons were sunny and we could time it right we could enjoy some of that warm sunshine on our furs—Mimi and Mewsette and me too.

Until the leaves fall, our back yard is shady most of the time because one neighbor’s trees block the southern angle and another neighbor’s house blocks the western angle of the sun, but we get about a half hour of sun between those two, and it perfectly washes the wooden steps to the deck and a swath across the yard and into the garden. A little later another long sunbeam comes in to the deck and warms it for a nice late afternoon visit. We timed it just right for Mimi’s sunbath on the steps.
It’s a great spot to observe the yard, but that wooden step is so nice and warm…

Mimi considers a tour of the back yard to examine her domain up close and purrsonal.

All that warm sun absorbing into her black furs makes a kitty sleepy.

They don’t have to hunt for their breakfast anymore, except virtually. Bella, Sienna, and Mariposa, three #formerlyferal girls, engage in some #birdwatching and #squirrelwatching while I prepare their breakfast. All rescued through the magic of #tnrwithrescue.

Autumn Reflections
The pond mirrored perfectly the fleeting beauty of a blue and gold autumn afternoon coming to a close.
After last week being practically tied to my computer for long days and resolving cat rescue issues, I needed some time outdoors, physical activity and creative activity to let go all the loose ends from that work. The same county park where I photographed the waterfall also has a pond, which I hadn’t known until recently, and of course I had to see it this autumn. The day was warmer than the last week, enabling short sleeves and light shoes with no socks, and a bit of barefoot walking, which I love. Sun streamed all day from a cloudless sky and every leaf in the woods was alight with its individual autumn hue. Read more here.

Private Conversations, 2017

A new box was on the cabinet by the window and ones and couples and threes took turns looking at life from the new vantage point. Basil was quiet and happy for the afternoon. Mewsette came to settle next to him, not a typical pairing, but purrhaps Basil is maturing and less likely to try to start a wrestling match with Mewsette, who does not wrestle but loves to play chase. Both were purring, in any case.
Then Mewsette, ever vigilant, gazed out the window to the front street. She appears relaxed, so I know the neighbor’s kitty was not sitting on his porch looking into our house.

I also shared this photo on Instagram last week with yet another story to tell, one of the days I was framing and getting ready for my show. I like some of the Instagram filters, but photos from my smartphone always disappoint. But it sounds very much like today.
Apparently it’s the sort of a day where it’s hard to stay awake. It’s very dark, there are piles of cats here and there, and no one has been supurrvising me while I race around with a billion details on a busy Monday with internet issues and get ready for my show.

At the Sign of the Crossed Tails, 2015

I’m not sure if it’s actually some hidden communication, like a secret handshake or a…tailshake, but I’ve been seen a good bit of these crossed tails lately. Not sure if I should worry, but then perhaps it has nothing to do with the feeble-minded human anyway. They are probably teaching Smokie and Bella things I’d rather not know. Above is Mewsette and Giuseppe’s tail, below is Giuseppe and Bean.

Where’s Dinner? 2012

Election results? What about dinner?
We don’t always understand our mom, but we can usually get her to focus on things that are important. But this is one of those days when we are losing! We are hoping for dinner very soon, but she’s playing with her computer again.
I don’t even have a television, I check things on my computer, but I have a computer in each room. I’ve been a little distracted today—voting is essential to a democracy and I hope all of you who are US citizens voted today. I was also filled with memories of other election days, my mother, older relatives, all of whom proudly cast their vote and whom I accompanied to the polls in later years, and all of whom are gone now. I wrote a post on my photo blog “Today” when I came back from voting, “A Party on Main Street”, that might explain a little more. (Should have shared this last night!)
For now, I’d better feed these cats, or I’ll be the loser!
