Daily Photo: A Very Busy Day

five black cats looking out door
The door is open!

We had such a huge day, and none of it turned out the way we’d thought! But it turned out okay. Though you can see, above, some of it was really, really good.

I didn’t even check my email until 8:00 p.m., truly unheard of! The post I’d had ready couldn’t be finished for today, and I was determined to make a big dent in the things that didn’t get done this week before I sat down at the computer. I’m so grateful for my Fantastic Felines who stuck with me through the whole day, though all they did was work! And they stuck with me through this whole week with getting ready for my poetry reading in Thursday, my 20-year-old Escort finally rusting itself off the frame rendering it undrivable on Wednesday, my birthday on Tuesday and a number of other miscellaneous events and frustrations that pushed a lot of things to Saturday, namely packing things people had ordered.

First I headed to the basement to gather boxes and packing materials for the day, and they all line up on the steps to supervise this activity.

They really wanted me to open the door, so I did, resulting in the photo above. I love to capture photos of the five of them at the basement door, and the one below would have been splendid but the camera had a problem focusing on all that black.

This would have been a great photo.

Guess I’ll have to do a sketch of that one. when I moved the focal point to the tops of their heads it focused fine but they had split apart by that time, and then Mimi found a detailed message someone had left…

Mimi gets the message.

Quite the story there. Back upstairs and you can see what a help the Fantastic Four really are as I open the cabinets and begin pulling greeting cards and other merchandise.

Mimi sits on my copy of the customer order so that I know where to find it.

They stayed there the whole time and you can see how seriously they take their responsibility. I didn’t dare get any items incorrect. Then as I began organizing items on the floor they decided to rest as they continued to supervise me as Mimi napped briefly. They kind of like it when I throw things around and make a mess. Wish they liked to help me clean it up too.

I am still being supervised.

Then it was all up to Mimi to make sure I got the rest of it done. As you can see it was a big task, quite a bit to fit into boxes.

A lot of stuff to pack.

And Mimi is determined to do her part to add the promised free cat hair to each order as she checks the integrity of each and every box.

Then she made sure each package was labeled properly and that I got to the post office on time.

Far later than I’d thought! Mimi had a vested interest in hurrying me along and seeing me off because I had promised that we would go out into the back yard when I came back, and she’d hold me to my word on a day that was dark but kind of warmish. I had had to rent a car for the weekend after mine was undrivable and I still had to set up my exhibit on Thursday so at least I could get myself to another post office still open late afternoon on a Saturday, then pick up a few other things as well as swing by a few used car lots…Also, I take my disabled brother grocery shopping at the beginning of each month after he’s received his Social Security check and because of my car I had to put that off to today as well, so off I went to get him and do some shopping and then have our “Payday Pizza” for dinner, a $5.00 Hot N Ready from Little Caesars, which we do every month when we shop. By the time I got home it was dark and raining, but I promise Mimi it will be the first thing I do tomorrow, not the last!

And I’ll catch up with all the important things I was ready to tell you about today another time. Hope everyone had a happy Saturday!

    • Sue, Mewsette was exhausted from supervising me or you would have been receiving a piece of her original cardboard interpretation art too! But Mimi made sure to have a good bath in each of the larger boxes.

    • Thanks, Kim! I didn’t mention it before hand–only celebrated 50 and the rest others seem to remember, not me!
